What type of Mega Man fan are you and how did you get where you are?
>>

I like Legends and that's about it
I played the games on Nintendo and thought they were just okay

I like everything but Battle Network. And yet, whenever someone says "oh I like Mega Man too!" to me, that's always the only one they like.
Got nothing against them, I just like platforman jump-n-shoot, that's all.

Most of the girls I met like X more than classic. My wife likes X series a lot more than classic.

Although I whould have preface this by saying the enjoyment comes from things other than gameplay, if you know what I'm saying.

I love all Megaman games. I just love OG Megaman a little less. I love when it tries to reimagine the franchise and less when it just falls back on the original all the time.
We haven't had a new take on Megaman in 17 years

Ever tried Network Transmission? It's jump-n-shoot.
Even has a couple enemies directly limited from classic Mega Man, exclusive to this MMBN series entry, like Sniper Joe, and other MM1 enemies.

Z1 has introduces a cool setting but that's it, the level/mission design is on a tier similar to X6.

tbf there really weren't many girls in MM until like early 2000s because of Inafune's ideas. Roll wasn't doing much, Kalinka was in a couple games, and Plum was added after the giant roster of male robot masters.

Early X series didn't have anything until Iris just Maverick her off. Then Berkana was made only to get the Iris send off. Then Alia was added but was the only one until like 2004 when they added the X8 navigators and CM girls. The rest of the series started off with more girls in roles from the start. Except Splash Woman in MM9 but that's still making her a rarity.

The level design is just as bad in the rest of the games, except levels in Z2-4 are 2-3 times as long and are much more exhausting to play. The mission structure was cool, all they had to do was fix it leaving you with 0 retries if you failed one, but jo instead they abandon that in favor of the safe stage select approach and keep the awful level system untouched before then abandoning that too instead of improving it.
>>
>>729026470
>The level design is just as bad in the rest of the games
That's objectively false, it's way more fair and doesn't have as much of "that part" as Z1 (then again, Z2 still has some of those, but already less).
>safe stage select approach
It's less experimental but Megaman is pretty much a franchise for people that enjoy a sense of security, so I enjoyed it regardless.

Z1 is the only game in that series with fair level design, what are you on about? Z2 and Z3 especially are X6 in their design.
>>
>>729027384
lol
>>
>>729027157
hey cousin hows it going
>>
>>729027438
Serious, try playing Z1 again. Its is the easiest and most fairly designed game in the series. 4 is only comparable on easy mode.
2 and 3 warrant savestate abuse.
>>
Megaman was never good
>>
>>729018286
Classic never did it for me. It's good, dont get me wrong, but I prefer the "meat" that X added to the formula, in the form of a more involved story. We already have the extremely simplistic stories of

>Mario good Bowser bad
>Sonic good Robotnik bad

adding Megaman good, Dr.Wily bad just isnt great for me. X also spawned MMZero, and MMZX, which are both great series. I also happen to enjoy MMBN as well.
>>
>>729027740
I played them like 8 months ago, still disagree.
>>
>>729018286
I’d say Zero/ZX but X is also like right there.
>>
>>729028123
That's wild. I'd have an easier time believing someone finds X4 to be the hardest game of the X series.
>>
>>729018286
I can’t really think of a MM series I don’t enjoy, Starforce got the least of my attention. I’m glad there’s a new one coming even if I would’ve preferred an X series game or an actual new series
>>
>>729027740
Bull, the Zero series gradually got easier as it progressed, with Zero 1 being harsh on no-elf S/A rank attempts.
Final boss is brutal with no upgrades, you could get the boss rush down pat after doing it like a dozen times just trying to finish that boss.
>>
>>729018396
Oh so you just don't like Mega Man.
>>
>>729028417
Honestly I think it really is what bothers me about the Zero/ZX games. They take all the advancements and changes from the X series, and then squeeze them down onto experimental handheld entries that can never just settle the fuck down and do a straight game until after 5 entries with ZX Advent, and then that's centralized around a transformation gimmick that barely justifies its own existence in trying to ramp up from ZX. Zero 4 arguably tries to be simplified in its own right, but fucks up with the whole recipe system and is still kind of a mess. Even if I can gel with the games a fair bit despite all this, I'd rather take the relatively straightforward X formula because there's no RPG mechanics, no Cyber-Elves, no rank autism, and no screen crunch.

In hindsight X effectively became the new Classic by comparison until Capcom focused on only Classic.
>>
>>729028702
>the Zero series gradually got easier as it progressed
It absolutely did not. Z2's intro stage is harder than anything in Z1, I tried giving Z2 a second chance and ended up quitting after three gameovers in the intro, Z1 is nowhere near as bad as that, and then you've got Z3 which also has insane level design such as the jumps over lava in one of the first stages, I gave that so many attempts before just breaking ans savestating through it and many other parts of the game, though Z2 is the one where I had to savestate all over the place, that game is romhack tier.
Z1 may be hard with no upgrades, sure, but the other games are basically impossible with no upgrades, so I don't see your point.

I played the Zero games with no upgrades and I'd say Z3 is the easiest and Z2 is the hardest, with the other two in between. Granted, it's been a few years, so I ought to give them a replay soon.

Anon. The intro stage are basic enemies, mini-bosses that have two different patterns of the same attack, and a boss that is still easier than virtually all the encounters of Zero 1. Unless you're someone that obsessively grinds to get all the Buster/Saber abilities as soon as possible in Z1 and literally cannot play without charged attacks at the start of Z2, or you grind Cyber-Elves to give yourself such immense advantages that you forget how to temper yourself and not dash-fling at every thing in proximity, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to complete the intro stage, much less game over. THREE TIMES.

Yeah, it's tougher than the intro of the first game, but it's easier than Aztec Falcon's first stage and fight, which would still be faced under the same stipulations of no upgrades. What on EARTH are you doing?
>>
>>729029784
It's really not that hard bro, I don't know if the controls just didn't "click" with you or what, but what you're describing sounds like someone saying that the Ferris Wheel was the scariest experience of their life.
I mean, the game definitively has some tough moments (like that water section in the final stages), but the intro stage? Really? Maybe you had some hardcore input delay because I don't get it.
>>
>>729029784
Were you playing with Attack Type A? I always mess with the settings after starting the game so I can charge the buster and the sword at the same time. That by itself is a decent power boost for bosses.
>>
>>729029784
There is no way you accomplished any of that and still had trouble with Z2's intro stage. It doesn't push you that hard at all.

This was years ago, I don't remember much about it beyond giving up at the intro. I had played through the game prior to that even more years ago, and I vividly remember the Z chain segments being the start of me using savestates, one before and one after each one, but then it was either the first ice stage or that faggot fire boss that does nothing but blindside you from offscreen just made me savestate constantly, and I do remember having very little patience going into Z3 so when I game overed like 3 or 4 times due to those stupid fucking jumps over lava in one of the first stages, I just started going ham with savestates there too.
>>729030138
I don't remember the name of it, but I liked the setup where R swaps my buster and saber.
>>729030302
Idk what to tell you. I did do all that and I enjoy the challenge of good games, I do challenge runs as well, like minimalist X4 and X5 or buster only MM8, Kingdom Hearts LV1 Proud, Zelda ALBW hard mode minimalist, etc.
>>
>>729028702
If you're playing fairly then maybe that's true, but Zero 1 has the most broken combo system in the entire series. Once you know how it works boss healthbars don't exist. There are so many attacks that just don't activate boss I frames and there isn't a limit for how many you can do in a chain. This is an extreme example, but Copy X just melts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naKny9ACN8c
>>
Classic is the superior one, the platforming Is not trivialized by double jump and if you want a faster megaman you have bass anyway

I also want to mention, I used to do this, but in my past like 3 playthroughs I just do a little grinding here and there until I get the charge slash then I play normally.
>>
>>729022506
why? it's a good movie
>>
>>729031265
You don't even need combos for Z1. The charge slash with correct element kills most bosses in 5 swings.
