It's by no means flawless. I love the game but anons aren't wrong saying it's mid. The contact damage can be pretty retarded and the poise system sometimes doesn't make much sense either. The map may show you what areas you cleared but otherwise it's bad compared to other metroidvanias. It gets carried by the atmosphere, music and art. The variety in abilities is OK till you figure that a lot of them are pretty niche. In terms of gameplay the sequel is flat out better in everything but the story is a bit odd and I didn't like the setting as much.

I just finished Magnolia a few days ago, good game if a bit too easy even with sliders turned up on top of the map babying you to an insane degree.

I'm playing Prince of Persia lost crown now and it's a pretty damn good game in the genre. The DLC was pretty crazy, I didn't even know I was starting it when I did since I just accepted the quest as soon as it appeared.

You're underselling it. Lost Crown is one of the best metroidvanias for the simple fact that platforming actually increases in difficulty the more mobility upgrades you get. Too many metroidvanias are eager to dole out double jump so retards don't have to commit to their jumps.

I like the customizable movesets, kinda reminds me of Aria of Sorrow's soul system, bench system is obviously cribbing from Hollow Knight, the bosses are Soulsy, all-in-all it's a solid pastiche of a lot of successful Metroid-likes that I love, great game. Music is nice too.
No way is it better than Silksong though, much less "way better".

What? Countering is pure dogshit in Lilies, it's never worth it to counter over getting one more attack in. Meanwhile in Magnolia equipment allows you to make a viable build around it and the mid-game boss is a counter skill check.
