Why was it a shitty game? It had to have been, because it didn't sell well enough for a sequel, despite IGN and other gaming sites and magazines pushing it before it even came out and nobody talks about it these days

It wasn't. It's a game that I love. Capcom didn't do enough advertising.

>and nobody talks about it these days
That's not an indicator of if a game is good or bad. Plenty of shitty game like Sonic 06 still get talked about, nowadays.
>>
>>729025095
So why does it never get talked about nowadays? There have been other games that failed when they came out and got cult followings, so how come Zack and Wiki basically never gets talked about? No matter how much IGN shilled the game, it still didn't make the game sell well, otherwise there would have been a sequel since the team wanted to do a sequel
>>
>>729026705
>So why does it never get talked about nowadays?
because not enough people played it because of bad advertising. Like I said, this isn't an indicator of quality.
>>
>>729024880
Poor word of mouth doesn't mean bad game. It was amazing. I loved it dearly as a child and still had a lot of fun on a recent replay. No clue why I initially had it, though.

I was going to ask you if the sword fights agaisnt the skeletons weren't too frustrating, but then I remembered that THIS fucker existed.

(by the way, did you know there was an easy way to beat those skeletons while still getting max HiramQ points: you just have to wait and parry each of their attack without getting hit (relatively easy) and they end up being too exhausted to fight and you can then hit them easily without them defending)

>wiki game
fuck off
>>
>>729027982
That's just the name of one of the characters, it's not a game based on a self-edited website or something.
>>
>>729024880
Was it the only good Wii game that didn't sell due to weak or no advertising?
>>
>>729024880
The problem with Zack & Wiki is Wiki should've been a shortstack venus monkey girl à la Midna from Twilight Princess (this is why Zelda was a success on the Wii and Zack wasn't)
>>
>>729027430
I recalled that fucker being a bitch but my memories of having difficulty with the game are mostly dominated by trying to get the fucking anchor throw in the literal final boss to work. And also being way too afraid of the snow sweeper robot. My more recent time around the worst parts were the obscenely precise tennis racquet reflections and just click on the snake from a distance and it'll come out of the hole for no reason lmao
(I didn't know that bit in particular, damn.)
>>
>>729024880
It was kind of bad. The biggest problem is that the wiimote controls didn't work all that well. Even if you had the correct idea of how to resolve a puzzle, you might give up because you couldn't get the wiimote to do what you were thinking properly.

Otherwise, it's a pretty basic and bland point-and-click adventure game. There weren't any shave-the-pig moments, but the story was really basic and nothing really interesting in the game happened. Outside the novelty of a point-and-click adventure with a motion controller, there's not much noteworthy about the game as a whole.
>>
>>729029639
Is that why the game didn't sell well? There's a bunch of bland licensed games based on movies and yet, they somehow sold well in sales

WHY did everyone shill this game so hard back then? I don't get it. I got it as a kid and it was fun but I didn't get why everyone was shitting their pants over it. Now Boom Blox, that was an astroturfed game that was worth the hype.
>>
>>729029718
>Is that why the game didn't sell well?
No, it sold poorly because it wasn't advertised well. I think that the $40 launch price probably didn't help much, since if you were looking at buying a Wii game for $40, there were a lot of other, better options. I don't think that many people even played it enough to be disappointed with the game, so it was forgotten very quickly among the sea of Wii game titles.
>>
>>729030274
So then why did mediocre licensed game based on a popular movie sell well like uh, the Madagascar 2 game for the Wii? Why did that game sell well? It was pretty mediocre, yet lots of kids bought it. Same with SpongeBob Atlantis SquarePantis on the Wii. Neither of those games were good, but many had them
>>
>>729024880
It looks like a game for toddlers. It's so cutesy and babyish
>>
>>729030532
The Wii sold for $200 (selling for $100 later in the generation) and so any kid who wanted a video game system got a Wii. Then when they saw Madagascar or Spongebob or whatever else, they'd cry to their parents to get the game and the games would sell a ton. There were no 5-10 year olds who were picking games based on the quality of the gameplay.

It's also why all the various Just Dance games sold so well on the Wii. Most families had a Wii thanks to their kids, and so parents or older teens just picked up the silly dance game and played that. When you have a system where a lot of normal people bought it, there's going to be a large amount of casual and licensed games that sell tons of copies.

Was there a reason why the Punch Out game seemed to come and go and not be as big as Mike Tysons Punch Out? Apparently Wikipedia said at it sold well, but it's hard to find sources. It was pushed a lot by IGN and Game Informer and yet, it never became as big as the original one for NES

Also, why didn't Wario Land Shake It do great? Again, wikipedia says it did well, but I can't find any sources and it seemed like it did poorly enough that there hasn't been a new Wario Land game since. I never even see people talk about it. Was it really that meh? IGN and GameSpot and Game Informer and others shilled Wario Land Shake It back in the day
>>
>>729031689
Realistically, the Wii was basically dead by 2009/2010 when those games came out. Especially in Japan but to a lesser extent in the US.
>>
>>729031818
Wario Land came out in late 2008

Also, even when Punch Out and Wario Land came out, the Wii had successful hits like Wii Sports Resort, Epic Mickey (the sequel flopped but the original did well), New Super Mario Bros Wii, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Zelda Skyward Sword, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Sonic Colors, and even Mario Party 9 did well in sales and that game was considered not very good

Also, Wii fucking Music (which is considered a shitty game) came out at the same time as Shake It and Wii Music performed well

I really enjoyed Wario Land Shake It. I don't think that it was as good as Wario Land 4, but still a really fun game outside the sub stages.
>>
>>729032014
I still can't believe Wii Music was the thing that made Nintendo soft-demote Miyamoto.
>>
>>729028465
90% of decent third party Wii games sold like ass precisely because of no advertising (Well, that and lack of casual appeal)
>>
>>729032192
IGN, GameSpot, Game Informer, and Nintendo Power shilled them though and heavily
>>
>>729024880
What was the plot of the game about? Was there any plot twists?
>>
>>729033115
>What was the plot of the game about?
Zack is a pirate and Wiki is his companion, and they find a ghost pirate ship to steal the treasure from.
>Was there any plot twists?
I think there was something about Zack being related to the pirate ship and something about Wiki leading to a later reveal in a sequel, but that never came. I don't much remember the story since all the plot points were handled in cutscenes around the final stage, so not really something you needed to focus on during the whole game. Not that it was a long game.
>>
>>729024880
Why does this game look CGI, yet has a hand drawn-ish look to it?
>>
>>729024880
Nobody bought or played other games on the Wii Sports Entertainment System.
>>
>>729034134
This was easily my favorite Wii game. Best game on the system, even if the translation was so bad that the story barely made sense.
>>
>>729032014
Was Wii Music that bad? I remember putting it on my HDD and playing it once.
>>
God damn. The Wii was so fucking shit. Holy fuck.
>>
>>729036315
I feel like only casuals were into it unless it was something like Mario Galaxy or Zelda Skyward Sword that got the hardcore gamers interested and even then, Skyward Sword is considered shit

What Wii games were ones that went ignored despite being shilled by gaming magazines and sites? All I can think of is Zack and Wiki

Are you indian or just slow?
>>
A fair number of people like it but theres really no reason to talk about it because its a linear adventure/puzzle game without any interesting characters or story.
>>
>>729028465
Little King Story is in the same boat.
>>
>>729024880
It just didn't look appealing for most people I guess? It went under the radar but I don't think people saw it as genuinely bad.
At least for me the art style and character design just looked kinda boring, remove the Capcom logo and I would've never spent more than 1 second looking at the thing.

Basically its a simple point and click puzzle game where you have to interact with stuff to solve puzzles using the Wii remote. Its a fun and charming game to give to your kids. Also best girl.

Better check just to make sure as its been awhile. I just remember a few years ago anon's here were saying the game's PC version is fixed and some programmer they hired went above and beyond to fix the game and even increasing the FPS but I'm not sure which version they were talking about. I know the game is also on GOG but not sure if either are the game.
