now the only way to make the game fun (the campaign) is by doing challenge runs:

act 1: white weapons only
act 2: white rings and necks, belts, talismans, blue weapons
act 3: blue rings, necks, belts, talismans, rare weapons
act 4: blue armor, rare OR unique weapons

it's cursed to have to play like this but try it out anon, the game is actually fun this way

Its not for the dad gamers, its for the PoE1 autists. Watch the fucking streamers, they are entitled as fuck and want to spam 1 ability over and over. Like the super popular PoE1 streamers are making trash tier retard builds then crashing out over them not working.

example of what literally happened last league:
>streamer wants to make a new build
>looks at ability
>ability ramps up the more poison stacks you have but you cant get a lot of poison stacks until later on through talent tree
>ability is an AoE ability
>streamer uses just that ability to try and level through the campaign with
>they have no extra poison stacks from talent tree so it does less damage
>the ability is AoE centric but they are trying to use it as main DPS vs single target and it doesnt do good damage single target (bosses)
>streamer yells into his mic about how shit the game is because he does no damage

PoE1 streamers/autists want to throw a dart at a collage of PoE abilities then be able to pick that one ability and spam only that ability and beat the campaign with it without putting actual thought into how a build would work. The devs even said that newer p[layers did better than the poe1 content creators because content creators cant wrap their head around some abilities being situational and needing to use more than 1 ability. When spears came out many poe1 streamers were spamming rake and they had only rake on their bar and didnt even put the movement ability with i-frames on their bars that synergized with rake.

These people just suck

this is my first league, having way more fun with lightning shotgun merc than my first attempt at a character being tornado druid. depending on floor effects to make tornado work is obnoxious as hell

It was never hard. People think it was hard because they never got a good weapon. Too much of players' power comes from gear right now, especially during leveling. It's one of the reasons why the end game process feels so shallow in this game.

I'm not saying I don't see the flaws with GGG's design, I just don't know how to feel about a game trying to do something different and getting so much flak for it.

the only reason it feels different is because of the tuning, the limitation of the design in PoE 2 is that if the tuning isn't difficult enough half the elements of gameplay become redundant. like are people worrying about breaking armor on bosses and exploiting their resistances? do they know what individual enemies do and how to counter them? do they have to manage their flasks and sometimes go back to town to refill them? do they change their spec for specific bosses and whatever? do they swap weapons, even talismans? not really because player power has increased to the point where you don't need to worry about thinking about any of the mechanics, planning or even doing the mechanics at all 99% of the time and it feels slow and boring because there is nothing going on and nothing matters. like GGG wanted to avoid, it has been made meaningless

legit try what is being suggested in the OP and you'll see the difference, it goes from a slop game to a Diablo 2 style aRPG with more fun characters and more depth and better bosses
