>Read steam reviews for new game from a franchise
>See negative reviews starting with "As a long time fan of the series..."
>ignore that shit because "longtime fans" always want nothing to change
These faggots always repeat their old good new bad shtick even when they know sales are plummeting and new players aren't interested in the games. It's like they would rather their franchise just end instead of attracting new players, or switch to gacha aimed at extracting $$$$ from the old player base like several JP franchises have done.

Fuck off shill

Why is Yumia so smug?
>>
I would agree, and for ateliwr its true to a degree because shit like atwliwr marie is leagues different compared to anything in the arland series and going forward.

Yumia is wayyy too different though. It minimizes all the aspects the people loved about the series for expansions in other areas that never really mattered with fans.
A fully open world does not benefit atwlier at all, especially when the crafting, gathering, and trait system had to be simplified because of it

Most people these days:
>Want new shit based on the old ideas just improved with modern tech and systems.
>They don't want stagnation of ideas.
Basically is the problem you are missing out.
>>
as a long time user of 4chin i want op to show tits or gtfo
>>
Reminder yumia flopped because the director wanted a global audience like he said in an interview months before the release

You'll see when you get older, zoomer-kun

yumia shitted and flopped

>change is good!!
Augment things, build on what you already have and make it better. Don't change for the sake of change. It's that fucking simple.
>>
Basically another Atelier thread. Here's Totori.

This. It's fine to improve on a previous mechanic and to add new stuff, maybe even remove some others that were clearly not good, but don't remove stuff that pertains to the identity of the franchise.

>author is really good at writing mysteries
>write a sequel that is fantasy erotica
>it's your fault for not liking it
>>
>>729030174
>"As a long time fan of the series..."
This is just what people say to virtue signal and give artificial credit to their argument. Anybody who says this should be taken with a grain of salt, they probably don't even really play the series.
>>
>>729033996
hell that even happens to me and it's totally understandable when people won't engage
>get a niche following by drawing very specific fantasy smut
>suddenly start drawing mecha
>crickets
blaming my followers would be stupid
>>
When a series stops appealing to its own fans you know there are problems with vision.
A game made for everyone is a game made for no one.
>>
>>729033996
You're assuming these long time fans are even long time fans in the first place, and that they're actually accurate about how they view the franchise even moreso than both the writer and the other fans.

I thought about this a bit and made a graphic. There are two winning trends:
>Open world
Like it or not, I understand why this is more appealing to the average gamer. Yumia's action combat may also have played a role in its sales+player counts, but we only have a sample size of 1 for that.
>Female protagonist with a mature curvy figure
I was first going to say adult female, but that's not the case. It's how they look, not age.
Yumia - adult, curvy
Ryza - starts as a teen, curvy
Rias - adult, slender (inb4 tits, if she doesn't count neither does Escha)
Sophie - teen, slender
>Side note: Fuck commies
It is really funny that Taiwanese rated Yumia significantly higher on average than PRC residents (simplified Chinese speakers)
>>
for me its meruru.

>story/character developments so hated they had to make Lulua to fix it and Astrid was written out of the franchise
>>
>>729034960
We'll have to wait until (or if) they decide to make Yumia 2. Some could argue Yumia got that "hype" thanks to previous games. Reminds me of how Monster Hunter World built a strong fanbase over the years and that caused MH Wilds to have the biggest release ever but it's widely controversial for many reasons.

Every Capcom game lately gets nonstop hit pieces written about it it’s very obvious
>>
>>729035846
idk i loved firis' game wholeheartedly too, sophie 1 was meh not bad, and i hate ryza for what shes done to my series. i dont blindly follow the majority and i certainly dont pretend to change myself based on it. i just do me bro.
>>
>>729036009
returning customers will say a lot about yumia, that'll be interesting if 2 ever happens
I always hate day-1 hype, as if that means anything, that just says people were looking forward to play the game and doesn't say anything about the quality. like that birdbox movie
>>
>>729030174
>It's like they would rather their franchise just end instead of attracting new players

Yes, I rather let it die than being turned into an abomination beyond recognition.
>>
>>729030174
Talking about monster huntwr fans huh. Same cry baby faggots crying about new shit that is OPTIONAL that you can either disable or just flat out NOT USE
>>
>>729036484
whatever it is I'm sure what they added/changed affects how the game is designed, changing the final product, so the complaint is perfectly valid
>>
>>729036009
I would prefer they go back to not making sequels and just do a new protagonist and story in each game.
Yumia's story was wrapped up satisfyingly.
>>
>>729036009
the only thing I'd look forward to in Yumia 2 at this point is to see her again.
