>basegame content plus Crystal content
>tons of additional content like the new Safari Zone, Battle Frontier, and legendaries
>actually let you catch the JOHTO Pokemon in JOHTO instead of locking some behind Kanto
>lots of little QoL stuff
The only slights against it are that it didn't do enough to fix the level curve issue and locking GB Sounds behind basically completing the entire game.

Probably not, unless it's also sealed. People are only willing to pay so much for games that aren't even rare and prices have been plateauing.

A lot of the bitching about the gen 2 Pokemon not being as prominent in Johto is just people who didn't grow up with them, but I'll concede this.
Falkner has only the fucking Pidgey family. Give him a Murkrow or something to make you go "Oh, wow! What is that?" Then you finally find it later in the game and you know.

Don't grind and it's not a problem. Retards who grind or don't play with a full party are the only ones who complain. I've beat this game half a dozen times just by battling every trainer and catching 1 of each wild mon I didn't have and not engaging with wild battles after.

>>
>>729034903
the game is designed in a way that you can run to different places after the ghost gym. You could go all the way right to the map and the Ice gym, down a fucking long slop to get back to the first route. To the left to explore the rest of the map and the island and then return back to the girl. This is balanced to have the same level. A normal player wouldn't give a fuck about this but apparently reaching the elite 4 under level 50 is that much of a deal breaker for anons after a dude did a video on the topic. Literally no one sane is bothered about this.
>>
>>729035558

>>
>>729037691
>>Safari Zone
>>Rather than just adding more variety to the main world
This is my big issue with HGSS' safari zone. You have to be mid to late Johto before you can access it. What they should have done was scrap the SZ or make it postgame for Hoenn and Sinnohmons. That's the thing about HGSS: it's pure quantity over quality. What's worse is that they knew the level curve was fucked and decided to make it slighty better than it was in GSC.
>>
>>729034609
>D/P/Pl was such abysmal horseshit
That's hyperbolic nonsense.
>>
>>729040153
I thought it was fun to steamroll them, it's also the post game, not the main campaign, it's supposed to be shorter.

Nah, that's not true. FRLG had the best level curve at that point with the strongest Elite Four and champion. Meanwhile, Emerald only had Steven... and nothing else. The Hoenn E4 and champion stayed the same.
>>
>>729041212
Platinum having the VS. Seeker alone puts it over HGSS.
>>

>>729035069

Just go to the right after beating Morty you autist. Pryce is actually pretty tough at that point.
>>
>>729036534
Are paying attention? People are complaining about the enemies being too underleveled.
>>
>>729034903
Speedrunners and challenge runners don't like the game because it doesn't fit with their idea of what a Pokemon game should be. That's really about it.
>>
>>729041239
The jump from Claire's Ace to Lance's is like 10 levels. It's 13 from Givonnai to Blue (and 13 again to the rematch) and you get something similar for the elite 4 rematches. Emerald has something similar from Juan to Wallace.
The giant gap between Blue and Red in GSC. HGSS doesn't really have the gap because the E4 rematch leaves a 13 level gap between Lance's Dragonite and Red's Pikachu (and its a fucking Pikachu so even with a light orb it doesn't really count).
>>
>>729041937
They complain that the early post game trainers and gyms are underleveled, which forces them to grind so they can face the high level trainers later on. Just play the fucking game and stop being a bitch.

Because they level up over the course of the game? Same reason why HGSS has rematches? But unlike HGSS, you didn't have to wait for a specific IRL day of the week for the trainer to rematch you.

Speaking of these games. I think I found a glitch or progressed "wrong".

I have 6/8 badges and the latest badge I got allowed me to control level 70 pokemon traded and below.
I never did Goldenrod Radio Tower or met the President because the event to dress up as a Team Rocket member never happened. However, I still cannot progress past the officer on the 3rd level and when trying to explore, I am blocked from going to the 8th gym city. An NPC blocks the way and tells me to explore the lighthouse city and first aid/medicine lady. I already did both of those things (gave Ampharos the medicine, fought the gym leader.)

What do?

These are the only ones I can think of that I consider definitively "better"
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (Gold Standard that allowed you to play with original mechanics if you really wanted to)
GrimGrimoire Oncemore
Star Ocean The Second Story R
Riviera: The Promised Land (PSP remake, I haven't played the PC release but it's based on the PSP remake)
Yggdra Union
Dragon Quest 4-6 DS (I have not played the PS2 version of V, and I'm undecided on 7's 3ds remake)
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age (this can be argued if you prefer the international editions approach to abilities, but after trying both I prefer TZA).
Katamari Damacu REROLL

Oblivion Remastered is good approach where they make minor changes but keep the core game intact, and mostly kept the art direction similar. There are also a lot of remakes that have tradeoffs with the originals that you just have to decide what's important to you. Personally, I'd like to see more remakes of flawed, interesting games (like Odin's Sphere) that fix issues rather than just remakes of already beloved games. I would kill for a remake of Okage Shadow King that fixes the flaws of that game while retaining the writing and atmosphere that made it interesting. FFXIII would also be an interesting thing to remake, if only to change the criminally glacial pace that the systems open up. An issue with remakes that change too much is that they can't "invalidate" the original anymore because they are too different. While the RE4 remake is a good game, it doesn't replace the original because they play very differently from one another (in addition to writing and story changes). Tactics Ogre has had 2 remakes and they are all distinct enough to be worth trying, oddly enough.
