Do you prefer fantasy, cyberpunk, or space?
>>729034281fantasy I like > cyberpunk > space > generic fantasy
fantasypunk in spacebasically space elves solving murder mysteries
cyber fantasy
>>729034281This shit is so corny. Modern is the best setting.
>>729034281Only a mix of these three
>>729034281All of them together. T. Phantasy Star lover (the original one. Fuck everything that came after IV)
>>729034281I like near future sci-fi
>>729034281Cyberpunk.Then space if it adds interesting things instead of space opera or the bullshit Starfield pulled.
>>729034770Name some good games with modern settings
>>729034281fantasy > cyberpunk in space > space > cyberpunk
>>729034281Good Cyberpunk (very hard to achieve) > Good Space > Good Fantasy > Generic Fantasy > Generic Space > Generic Cyberpunk>>729036382Shin Megami Tensei
>>729037725I agree with this. It's probably easiest to achieve good fantasy.
Fantasy. Everything that is great is founded in a love and nostalgia for the old world and its legends. Science Fiction has its moments, especially in space fantasy like 40k or Star Wars, but Cyberpunk is completely irredeemable trash.
>>729034281i like all three, so long as the content using the setting doesn't suck ass. of the three, i do think i could do with more cyberpunk games though. theres a few names that come to mind, but it feels like the other two are like 80% of the market
>>729034281fantasy just werks on every level
>>729034281Yes.
>>729040089Niggerlover.
>>729034281Steampunk/Gaslight FantasyBring this back. I'm getting tired of the same shit.
>>729040089Everything about you is shit faggot taste all around
>>729034281Post Modern Fantasy or Sci-fi. Typically leaning more into periods when communication and technology were fairly limited since I find it lends to more interesting limitations to the characters. Society really let people get away with a lot more bullshit back in the day while still being in charge of some pretty important stuff and I like that. Likewise the Cellphone as a device in everyone's pocket kills the potential for a lot of stuff. I don't really value creative worlds that much so much as creative and interesting characters dealing with intriguing problems and situations in our world. Themes of Secret Societies, Paranormal activity, extraterrestrial incursion, etc placed upon the backdrop of what is conventionally recognizably "Normal"
>>729034281whichever one has the best gameplaythey all get written the same way anyway
>>729034281I have always been big into fantasy. Space would come second if it's not hard scifi. Nasapunk is gay. Gimme aliens and lasers and shit.
>>729039903I think it depends. Shadowrun is an amazing Cyberpunk setting that deserves more love, and FF7 was instrumental in bringing Cyberpunk to millions.
>>729040089HOLYYY NIGGER JANNIESis that shit really bannable? wow this website has gone to fucking shit get me tf outNIGGER JANNY TRANNY
>>729036382Call of duty, Grand Theft Auto, Madden, Gran Turismo, Battlefield, Fortnite
>>729034281Strangely enough, I think I like the nice cyberpunk, the one that is futuristic but is not corpo-hell, kind of like modern+ I suppose. fantasy and space and then cyberpunk in more generic consepts.>>729036382The World Ends With You
I think that the problem with scifi is authors never really consider how drastically post-scarcity societies will change relationships. So much of relationships today is "is she pretty, is he rich, is he ambitious, is she capable," etc etc. When you can have literally everything you want materially, what would you start looking for in a partner? Same with the idea of unlimited VR porn, if you can just fuck anyone at any time, I think it will flip the idea of relationships on its head. For that reason, cyberpunk stories tend to be more interesting. But I love well written scifi because it's fascinating to explore those ideaspicrel, of course
>>729034281You know if you just have a Shadowrun game set on a space station, you got all three.
>>729034281Cyberpunk is almost at the same level of cringe as steampunk now. Setting hasn't evolved in decades and has no new ideas it's just an aesthetic with le corporations, superdense ghetto cities, and random japanese stuff.
>>729049269>When you can have literally everything you want materially, what would you start looking for in a partner?I wouldn't. But I would fuck pretty much any woman I had a passably pleasant professional relationship with, provided it wouldn't fuck with the work dynamic. Which ironically is pretty much what chicks and dudes in both the Foundation and Cyberpunk series have in common. Everyone is either fucking a hot chick on their squad or some bitch they actively hate and would kill given the chance.
>>729034281It cycles. I'm currently in fantasy vibes.
>>729049668How is it the same level of cringe? Steampunk got it's idea of tech progression totally wrong. Half of Cyberpunk is just modern life, the tech is just less visually intrusive and more unevenly distributed. What held it back was essentially just the idea of Suburbia but that space is slowly getting eaten by the encroachment of civic options that allow for greater population density.
>>729034281Is there a game with all three?
Space is boring as shit
>>729047746Fucking slop
>>729034281I'm sick of all of them.
>>729034281Dieselpunk.
