The magnetic joy cons are a massive improvement over the originals, kick stand is great, screen I have no issues with it and I came from a switch oled. Power of the machine seems great. UI is simple clean easy. Exactly what a console should be. Overall in terms of hardware literally zero issues. Ive been having alot of fun with MKW, Bananza, Prime 4, air riders, NSO and messing around with older switch games that got a patch. Also, I dont feel like im gimped playing certain third party games like hades and silksong. They basically run the same as they would on my high end pc. So I got them on switch. This is the best console launch in a long time. Plain and simple. It matches switch 1 for me.

>>729046172The thing about that game is that it's clearly an issue with the CPU, but remember that game started development on the original Switch and it probably doesn't use it's resources to it's full extent, which is just how things are, Tears of the Kingdom ended up performing better than Breath of the Wild, and that's in spite of it just going ham with more, the sky islands being visible from many points in the world, the worst place for the game in terms of performance now having a giant ruin sitting right on top of it as well as a larger population, and even things like having large battles of 20 or more actors.Something like what happens in Bananza against Void Kong however would be a lot harder to optimize because it's a sudden spike due to the terrain going crazy.There are unfortunately 30fps games coming from Nintendo, with the Animal Crossing patch being 30fps as well as Fire Emblem, but at least in Fire Emblems case this is to be expected, it's probably Unity again too.

As far as games go DK and Kirby Air Riders have made the system worth owning, I enjoyed Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon ZA, ive played some switch 1 games I either never finished or bought but didnt play this time around. Mario Kart was okay, I wouldnt have bought the system without a new 3D DK or 3D Mario game year 1 though, so Im content with my purchase. Hoping for some more good stuff in 2026.

>>729049782Just an issue of how Nvidia vs AMD handle things, AMD GPU has to use compute to actually handle the ray tracing scene, it steals resources from other rendering tasks, on the flipside Nvidia's dedicated RT cores do the work themselves, at least more of the work themselves, it's a far far more efficient approach and AMD are moving that way, Switch 2 just missed out by not jumping down to Lovelace where Nvidia started to go ham with cache, (RTX 3070 to RTX 4070 goes from 4mb of L2 cache to 36MB of L2 cache). While per clock the Switch 2 is better at ray tracing than a PS5, and a PS5 pro, had the Switch 2 been Lovelace it would have been between 1.5x and 2x better at ray tracing compared to the PS5, not per clock, just outright being able to trace that much more rays per second compared to those devices, having the Switch 2 launch RT heavy would have lead to some funny shit like Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild would probably feature RT reflections while running at the same res/framerate, every Nintendo published game on Switch 2 would probably feature RT it would have been that easy to do.
