Even Nine Sols is a lot more talked about than the Ori games on here. Does /v/ collectively think they're shit?
>>729046827ori games are great, the second one is pretty neat and the first one is one of my very, very favorites of all timebut theres just really not much to discuss about themif anything the devs' next game has lots to discuss but its doing so terribly that nobody talks about it
They're fun and look nice. People dont talk about Ori because it isnt nonsense combat bullshit like HK. Its all platforming, combat might as well not exist.
>>729047554>it isnt nonsense combat bullshit like HK.what the hell does it even mean>if your game has combat its nonsense bullshitdoes that mean ori 2 is nonsense bullshit?
>>729046827Why does everyone pretend HK has better combat when it's combat is just putting an enemy on a too small of a platform so you always have to readjust your position before you can whach it 5 times, Ori has actual weapons with movesets and abilities
>>729048030silksong has different movesets and abilities too now. Ori 2 only really has the sword and hammer + the cool ranged abilitieseither way, the answer is because hollow knight has much superior enemy design once shit gets real.Ori 2's moveset is incredible but unfortunately it doesnt do much good when bosses are pathetically anemic and slow, and while there are some cool enemies, most are completely pathetic. The balance is fucking ass too, and i dont mean "noo muh overpowered gear" but more like "healing in ori 2 is beyond braindead" "a pile of shards are superfluous shit"The perfect example is Shriek. Shriek is supposed to be the climax of Ori but shes PATHETICALLY, HORRENDOUSLY slow. Shes supposed to be a fucking speed demon for crying out loud but they just give her extremely slow windups for everything. The final phase is awesome but the entire rest of the fight feels less exciting than some hollow knight/nine sols bosses from the first 15% of the gameAnd thats why i unironically believe lategame Ori 1's much bigger focus on platforming, throwing enemies into hazards, features like charge dashing, etc = unironically better combat than ori 2, because its not a waste of potential and actually does what its set out to do
>>729048580Ori 1 was always better, only combat brainlets thought otherwise.3D is a better combat dimension anyway
>>729048783i think a more well executed ori 2 where the combat actually matches the potential of ori's moveset would be a much more fun game actuallybut most enemy encounters in middle-lategame feel like theyre at 20% of ori's level
