I don't know what Level 5 has now done, but regarding OPs pic related, roguelikes and "open world" are perfectly compatible. See e.g. UnReal World, or Angband-variants with an overworld mechanic. Indeed, I would say that "roguelike open world" makes a whole lot more sense than "Ubisoft open world" for instance, since simulation is a characteristic part of the genre and that would imply dynamism in the world (for example, in UnReal World reindeer have their migration routes, and you can take advantage of that by e.g. building a trap fence across an isthmus they have to traverse), and being turn-based makes it possible to travel through large spans of nothingness quickly since time is abstracted (you fast-forward a thousand turns).
