Will Mario Baseball ever return, bros?
>>729066973nintendo aren't really able to get many games made these days. something has gone wrong and they're not able to do it in any kind of reasonable timeframe anymore.you'd think that they would do baseball though, baseball is doing quite well in Japan right now thanks to Ohtani, and even in the US baseball is reversing its decline after the pitch clock changes in the MLB and the success of a juggernaut dynasty team in the dodgers. They really should have had it coming out to coincide with the WBC, but they had Camelot putting out Mario Tennis in feb 2026 instead - big mistake really. That really would have been the perfect time for a new mario sluggers.
>>729066973i wish, it was the only mario sports game i had as a kid and was super fun with the wiimote, dunno why they cant make a new one for switch and use the 2 joycons that come with the system for pitcher and batter
I miss the gamecube era of Mario. I remember thinking this cover was so cool and I was never even a fan of baseball.
No, but maybe it's for the best. Think how all the other Mario sports games have been treated post Wii era. >obviously rushed out to meet quota>small, bland roster compared to previous installments>the plethora of side modes or special themed stages the previous installments had are also greatly reduced>most of the modes would be online only>it wouldn't be just baseball with Mario like the previous games, they would need to shoehorn some kind of gimmick to stand out like your equipment has stats or passive effects you need to grind for or open world>in a month they will announce "Free DLC/updates" which in reality is just the restoring the missing 50% of the game they couldn't finish in time>said updates aren't anything to write home about, it will be stuff like you can now play as Pauline, Birdo, Shy Guy, Diddy Kong, Charging Chuck, Baby Waluigi etc., new stadiums that are generic environments, new cosmetics, or a new mode you'll play 3 times at most without getting bored ofbut that's fine because youtubers and twitter clout chasers will hype it up because "Wow this is the most animated these characters have been" or cream their pants because a character has a unique animation if you do a certain action. Then a month later youtube will be filled with videos like "Super Mario Baseball World is bad actually", "Why Super Mario Baseball World failed", "Is Super Mario Baseball World the worst Mario sports game?", "What Nintendo got wrong with Super Mario Baseball World" etc.
>>729066973Baseball, unlike the other sports, requires a lot of characters.
>>729066973man i couldn't care less about sports or sports games, but this one is an exception. i fucking loved this game.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bDtzHdISkc
>>729067930and nintendo is lacking in characters, right?
>>729067776thats only the main titles like mario party or mario kart, the sports games get basically no coverage, although id expect a sluggers sequel would get a good bit of positive coverage
>>729068167Well, somewhat. They'll never use RPG or Warioware characters. Stuff like that. But my main point was to convey that baseball requires more effort to make than like tennis
>>729067105This is every studio thoughbeit.
Still no Super Mario Bowling, Volleyball, or Wrestling
>>729066973They will remove Toadsworth.
>>729066973I don't want a new Mario Baseball with Nintendo's current trend of releasing shallow sports games and then drip feeding miniscule content updatesI'd rather Superstar Baseball or Super Sluggers get more mod attention or a decomp with a PC port
