What's the best way to play this game for a first timer? Any recommended mods?

Battle grid orders so you can actually tell niggas what to do, but I'm pretty sure it's broken right now.

Also if you play YAML disable the quirk that makes urbanmechs have like 250% hp. I can't remember how. They're insanely fucking tanky and some maps will throw a dozen of the little shits at you and your allies don't know how to back away from ac/20 mechs.
