what games capture an american aesthetic well?

>>729078727Days Gone
>>729078849some of it yeahit is hard to pull "american" specifically out of most things culture or culture related because america has been the dominant culture for so long that it has warped everything around it
>>729078727GTA obviously
RDR 1 and 2, western kino is by far the coolest american setting
>>729080581>holiday treeK I N O
>>729081118I was more meaning that an "american aesthetic" is hard to define because of how varied the landscape actually is, such that "american culture" beyond stereotypical aspects such as obesity and flags and freedom is similarly hard to define.Texas and Montana are vastly different places in the same way Oregon and Florida are.

>>729081470There are some good example of this in the thread, like RDR2 and Days GoneThe issue is that there are large sections (population-wise) of America that are relatively flat urban sprawls and most of the people making games live in those parts of the country. America has some absolutely stunning areas and unfortunately we never see those in video games. Zion National Park is the most beautiful place I've ever visited and I doubt I'll ever see a game there

>>729083682The internet is not culturally american.
>>729083682American culture is basically European history with Chinese sensibilities wearing a cowboy hat.
>>729081643>Flawlessly captures the feeling of living in a tiny shithole townI got this feeling in dead rising case zero.
>Americans literally live in heaven on earth given to them by God yet they complain

>>729084109Even though the Mountain West is associated with quintessential American-ness in pop-culture, it's also the least populated area of the country. It's kind of like saying all Brazilians live in the Amazon rainforest or all Chinese live in Shaolin temples atop limestone mountains. It's more of a scenic icon than actually representative of daily American experience. What most Americans see everyday is more like pic related.
>>729083740But America (and the rest of the world) is becoming culturally Internet

>>729084810>>729085147>>729085284Also there are essentially two kinds of American suburb: old suburbs and new subdivisions. Old suburbs are charmingly intimate: brick buildings, tree cover, narrower streets, and 10-15min drive to downtown. Whereas new subdivisions are very cookie cutter construction, multi-lane feeder roads, scraggly tree saplings, and arduous 45min+ commutes.Since migration is dictated mostly by employment opportunities and more recently migrants seeking warmer climates, the charming old suburbs in the Midwest/Northeast (outside of tier one metros like NYC/Boston) are bizarrely cheaper than the machine printed subdivisions in the South. There's also a weird dynamic where conservatives champion older idyllic suburbs as American Greatness but in practice these places are mostly inhabited by liberals.
