Not upgrading til next year.
>>
lemme know when shit's actually affordable. A midrange rig shouldn't cost more than $1000, and enthusiast shouldn't cost more than $2000.

Thats $900

I upgraded from 5600X3D to 7950X3D just because I was fucking annoyed by shader compilation, and wanted maximum cores to power through it.

Totally worth it.
>>
>>729083258
Problem is that midrange gpus in the $300 range are fucking dogshit now and the gap between a xx60 series to the high end xx90 is so high that devs start targeting xx70ti/80 cards for recommended specs.
>>
>>729083258
am4 with 5700x and Intel b350 or what their gpus called
>>
>>729083258
midrange under 1000 is no problem
>>

>shader compilation
i've still never played a game that required doing that. is it mostly UE5 stuff that requires it?
>>
>>729083412
Budget $300 cards are the best they've ever been.
>>
>>729083041
7800/9800x3d should last at least 10 years.

post >yfw a second hand 5800X3D is now more expensive than a new 9800X3D
>>
>>729083797
5800X3D has been discontinued long time ago, try to get 2nd hand 5700X3D, it's the same thing, but with slower clock and marginally worse performance.
>>
>>729083412
The 5060 and 5060ti are great GPUs.
>>
>>729083686
Nah it's not dependant on engine. Most new games do that. Takes I don't know 5+-2 minutes. If you update gpu drivers or something that changes your configuration enough then you have to do it again, but otherwise it's just one and done deal. No need to do it again.

I thought about upgrading to 9800X3D, but then the asrock shittery happened

>2 fps
you have to realize >=500 ms frametimes aren't coming from the RAM being clocked slightly differently. this shit is an outlier that shouldn't be included in a serious comparison.
