I'm thinking of going back to 4:3, honestly. Already with 16:9, if I focus on something in the center of the screen to see the main action, UI elements off in the corners can sometimes be less immediately legible, and the vertical axis can feel pretty cramped. A friend of mine shelled out for a used medical monitor so he could get HD 4:3 and he seems really happy with it.

I did. I don't regret it at all, especially for productivity.I ended up hating this monitor's piss poor motion clarity and very bad strobing so I went for an OLED tv instead, exclusively for gaming.Now the funny part is that I end up choosing an ultrawide resolution on the 16:9 TV. It's pretty nice.21:9 is a tiny bit too wide, but 3840x1700p is kino. Game support hardly was ever an issue.

16:9 is the red headed stepchild of aspect ratios.4:3 is perfect for scene density, tons of information with minimal eye movement.21:9 displays the true scale of a scene, what a "wide" screen should be doing.16:9 loses the information density of 4:3 while not being big enough to capture the scale of 21:9.

I really like my curved ultrawide monitor. Funny thing is I got it for free because a guy bought it and was upset the entire internet and contained media didn't magically convert to fit perfectly on the screen.
