>>729094708>Not waiting for 9950X3D2Baka.
>>729083530I wanted to buy a 5700x3D and didn't realize that they stopped making them, please help this retard that still has a 3600 out, I don't want to change my whole motherboard
>>729087040>Gaming was best around the PS3/360 era when computers could easily outclass consolesYou're joking, PS3/360 had games that were visually far more impressive than what PCs could pull out (except for extreme outliers like Crysis, literally made with future tech in mind). 8th gen was when PCs started to not only catch up, but also produce much more beautiful games
I need to upgrade my CPU but fuck me I'm not buying new ram right nowI already have 32gb DDR4, what DDR4 CPU should I get?
>>729094760Buy a used one. CPUs are generally bulletproof unless it's Raptor Lake, so no risk unlike GPUs.
>>729094760hurry up and get a 5600, it's the last AM4 shit that is going to make sense and otherwise you're waiting for china to mass produce enough DDR5 to change the market and it may literally never happen
>>729094886preowned 5800X3D or 5700X3D is your best choice for games
>>729094932used prices are just as outrageous because of so many people being stranded on AM4
>>729094932Not him but I've bought used AM4 cpus with bent pins. It's not that hard to fix unless a few are broken off but it is a time consuming pain in the ass.
>>729094932Good idea, I never considered it because I avoided used PC parts like the plague unless they were from a friend. It might be the time to try>>729094982This sounds good too, how's the performance difference, would it be a better option at this point?
What's the deal with this cpu? Was it just the nice budget one before 7800x3d?
just got a ryzen 5 3500x hoping to upgrade in about a year or two money is tight right now any tips for my next upgrade?
>>729094760don't waste your money
>>729095106only unicorns are not going to unbend pins on some cpu that sells for $400 used. You're actually going to be buying some chip a guy tried to hand solder pins back onto or something
>>729083530riding the tiger with my 3800X
>>729094760Get used, and quick.
>>729095084otherwise, you can try to get 5800X or 5700, since they have 8 cores
>>729095127it's just a good generational upgrade over a 3600 but they're still selling new stock at reasonable prices
>>729094760I think you'd be better off with a slight overclock to get about 20 or so extra fps rather than upgrade. A 5500 is basically the same as a 3600, the 5600 is marginally better 5500 with a little bit more L3 cache, and the 5700 is just a 5600 with 2 extra cores and performs basically the same. The x3d chips are an improvement because of the extra L3 cache but it's currently shit price-to-performance.
>>729094691damn mini-pc dells are a step up in user fucking even beyond dell desktops
>>7290952145800X3D was the CPU to get for gaming when it came out, BTFO of Intel's shitty Alder Lake platform (which required a whole new motherboard yet again), the previous king, despite being on the ancient AM4 platform. AM5 came later that year.
>>729095547>built a new PC with an i5-12400 because it was the best bang for your buck CPU>5800X3D released not even a month later>figure whatever, 13th gen will beat AMD again>13th gen CPUs literally rust themselves to death>still using the 12400, runs like shit in new games compared to any AMD X3D CPUMoral of the story, fuck Intel. Always go AMD.
>>729093972Going for early dementia, I see.
>>729083881Unless you have a 5090, then they will perform nearly identically.
>5800x3d>32gb 3200 cl16 ram>9070xt bought @ msrpyup I'm thinking I'll never have to upgrade again
I'm a third worlder and finally got an AM4, with Ryzen 3 2200GI don't see a better path for improvement than this. Bought the mobo, and now I can go from this, to very pricy CPUs next when the money gets good
Am I good bwos?
AI economy eating all the consumer electronics business is a nice preview of the AI economy eating real estate, water, and food production
>>729083530lol
>>729096085for vidya it's no better than a 5600. Hope you render a lot
>>729083530the 11400f costs like 70% cheaper and is only 10% slower.
>>729096085It's not bad but the 5800X3D is the holy grail for gaming
>>729096083a 5600G and some dumpster ddr4? 5600G will actually get dirt cheap used eventually at least
>>729096159Thanks for making me laugh.
>>729096159The 10900K is 50% cheaper and is twice as fast.
>>729090754>>729091660>>729092569retards
>>7290835309950x3d here, it's nice. went from 4790k to this in my new build
>>729084442>5600x>RTX 3070>32 GB DDR4Kinda chilling with some games running from 50 to 120 FPS at 1440p but I wish I had more stability, framerates fluctuate so much I barely have a consistent experience. Nevertheless, I guess I'm stuck with this machine for a long while.Should I buy a better AM4 CPU or just play the waiting game?>captcha
Have any of you guys been AMD users through and through over the years? What’s your experience?I guess I’ll start going for AMD now that Nvidia is going full jew, but I started using Linux a year ago, so it’s also just the better choice.
>>729096628>3070It was over before it began. Any 8GB card is e-waste. No CPU will make up for it.
>>729096681Good CPUs. Horrendous GPUs.
>>729096746don't believe this propaganda, I had a 5700xt, supposedly a complete piece of shit that constantly crashed, and it worked mostly fine for me over a number of years
5900x for another 5 years i guess
>>729096681I've had intel/amd cpus and amd/nvidia gpus over the years and never had any real unexpected trouble with any of it, 99% of people bitching about any of the above beyond getting what you paid for are programmed by FUD
>>729096831>mostly fineYeah man my bitch was mostly faithfulMy food was mostly edibleMy sleep was mostly restfulMy sex was mostly satisfyingFucking AMD cucks. Your expensive product should just work, faggot. Not mostly work.
>>729096858The bulldozer era was awful. Made me swear off AMD forever. Worst CPUs I've ever had the displeasure of using.
>>729096681I had one (1) game that had driver issues that required me to wait for a fix, which was SM2, and the timeout only happened every 3-4 hours. 9070 XT or 7900 XTX are considerably cheaper than their Nvidia counterparts - I would literally not use any 5XXX card, including "Housefire" 5090, even if it was given to me for free. The only two Nvidia cards that seem worth considering are the 4090 and maybe the 4070ti Super.
>>729096914yeah I'm sure your gpu has never ever crashed a single time over thousands of use hours mhmm
>>729096935retard
>>729096935yeah I only had a "bulldozer" (one of those gens, I forget which) in a laptop at one point but it was only after they became very cheap because there was no hiding how inferior they were.
>>729097017On nvidia tha's an unfortunate error, not what's expected
>>729097140yeah same for AMD glad it's about the same for you
>>729083530Here. Riding this train until the very last stop.
>>729096914Not him but the only AMD gpu I ever had issues with was my old RX 580, and that was a Windows issue more than it was an AMD issue. My old R9 280 and my 6700xt have never given me issues.
>>729097087If you used one, you know how shit they were. The fact that AMD's top of the line 8 core CPUs were getting BTFO by Intel's years old quad cores was such an embarrassment, it seemed like AMD was going to go under. They had to practically give the AM3 CPUs away to stay afloat.
>>729097190It's ok, cuckie. I know you are a prisoner of your own poverty so you have to cope. I hope one day you get enough money to buy good hardware and stop having to deal with the poverty choice.
>>729083530>>729087907>>729088391I've been using an AMD 3600X for 5 years, all while I was waiting for the 5700X3D to dip a little lower in price, but that was stupid of me to wait too long because now they are no longer produced...Now my only option is jumping to AM5 and upgrading mobo + RAM or getting a 5800X for 165 bucks. Is that CPU worth such same-socket upgrade?
>>729097017>my AMD GPU only crashes every 3-4 hours>but your Nvidia GPU did it once in 3-4 years>it's exactly the same!
>>729097562I'm a cuck because my card very rarely crashes? can you explain what you mean?
>>729092267correct, as the 5090 is made from the dies too shitty to be enterprise cards.but you already knew that :)
>>729096159And it only works on 1200 LGA motherboards, 10° and 11° gen. So if you have something cheaper, you gotta throw your old mobo in the trash, and if you want to go to something stronger, you will need to throw your new mobo in the trashWhat makes AM4 great is compatibility. From a 2017 AMD A6-9500, to a 2024 Ryzen 9 5900XT, you can do it by just changing your CPU.
>>729096681I will be honest with you, I have used both NVIDIA and AMD a lot, and I don't really see the difference. Drivers interface is different, but apart from that?I guess AMD had more bang for the buck, so that's something
Living the dream. Especially as my mobo is a day 1 launch crosshair vi hero that even has AM3+ mounting holes so I used my old silver arrow sb-e initially (a cooler that was already best part of a decade old at the time). 1700 -> 3900x -> 5800x3d and from the looks of things i'm riding this platform out until 2027 for a full decade of use.
>>729088862>Never obsolete>Using the 720p of 4K
>>729098058AMD is simply the better value right now, nvidia prices are ridiculous just for RTX. FSR4 is also very nearly as good as DLSS
>>729098178lolololololol
>>729098217that's the sound you make when you polish jensen's dick off
>>729093905>CL40 2x16ehhh
>>729094759>9950X3D2.. Do what?!
>>729098424Rumored 9950X3D with two X3D CCDs.There is also 9850X3D which is 9800X3D with 5% higher clock. The latter was leaked by AMD itself so it's coming out very soon.
Post your upgrades2700X -> 5800X -> 5800X3D
>>729094760i will wait for am6 to come out in like 6 years and then update to cheaper am5, at least it works for me because i dont play AAA games
>>729098807Cite 5 games you played the most in the last 5 years
>>729083964>there are still intelaviv users
>>729096681Been on AMD CPUs since 2017 and GPUs since like 2009, never really had any problems with them. No brand loyalty, they're just way way cheaper than nvidia here. At least used to be.
>>729099025Nobody ever got fired for buying Intel.
now that nvidia will stop developing gpus for the general consumer amd will rule the consumer market should i be worried
>>729098117
>>729098592If I literally bought a 9800X3D there's zero reason to wait for the 50 right? Just a hertz bump or also core bump? I don't do blender or anything so I feel like it's overkill for my use (thus why I didn't get 9950) and don't wanna deal with AIO due to higher thermals
>>729099663it's all fud to make you buy 5000 series before they release the supers
>>729099663You're dumb.
>>729099871Just slightly higher clock for $100 extra.
>>729093905>cl40Cuz..enjoy your stuttering.I went for cl30 for my 9800x3d after hearing the issues ayymd had with frametimes, been fine with it.
