Don’t remember all the mechanics but maxing out your item finding percentage with the mimic hat and that one ring will make it take 2-3 hours of farming silver knights.

For the dark moon, there is one covenant item in the Church of Yorshka and one before Aldrich. You need 30, so that is 15 playthroughs
Hey it's still not Forest Hunters which is literally not possible to complete without online play in DS1, even DS3 lets you farm Farron Swordgrass from ghrus in the swamp even if it's not optimal

In DS1 I only farmed for the Sun covenant. Somehow managed to get just enough summons for the first Lightning Spear then farmed maggots for the second one.
