Deadass the only way I can see them ever topping ultimate is just by doing it again but adding non-vidya characters with close ties to gaming like Spider-Man, because that's literally the only line they haven't crossed yet
>>
I think it will be fine
>>
They could add a better single player mode, more bosses, even playable bosses, add all the things previous games had, there's a ton of room for improvement
>>
I play smash to play as game characters, not Goku and Spongebob.
>>
>>729099987
I've not enjoyed smash bros since brawl
>>
How about a smaller roster (35 or so) with lots of character reworks, particularly the original 12? That would be much more exciting.
>>
Give the characters complete new movesets. They shouldn't be locked into movesets from 1999/2001 since many of the characters have evolved a lot in their respective series. Since it's not a serious fighting game, it's a party game, it's ok to change the characters completely.

I don't understand why retards think Ultimate can't be topped. Do you really think it's the peak of the series because it brought back Pichu or some bullshit? There are dozens of video game original characters who aren't in these games yet.

>deadass
Go back.

>They shouldn't be locked into movesets from 1999/2001
this is really only true for puff, falcon and maybe fox/falco
the rest are very different from melee
>>
>>729100179
Unfortunately they've already laid the groundwork

This, Ultimatebabbies don't know what true hype is. When Smash 6 gets announced with blockbuster characters like Sylux, Shantae, Verso, and Shovel Knight? That's gonna break the internet.
>>
>>729099987
I'm expecting Switch 2 Edition with a successor to Adventure Mode, All-Star Mode and maybe one or two additional characters. There's been a few FE games since then, right?

>deadass
You're a grown man

They need to start from scratch and focus on evolving the core gameplay and having an online system that's not pure dogshit.
That means resetting the roster and remaking all the classic characters with faithful movesets (especially Samus). It will piss rostertards off but it's necessary.
If 6 is just Ultimate Deluxe it will suck.
>>
>>729101518
That's what I'm saying, there's no new ground to be broken aside from that final line I mentioned. People are going to be disappointed one way or another.

>Sylux
*VUE 995 and Nora Armstrong
Fix'd

Remove her from Smash forever.

This. They don't have the balls to make a new Smash game without the full roster.
They probably are trying to make a deal with all companies to bring back every character again.
>>
>>729099987
The next Smash game can easily surpass Ultimate by redoing movesets and giving it actual single player content. Regardless of how good or bad Brawl was as a game, it was the last time a Smash game has actually felt new and unique. 64, Melee and Brawl all felt like vastly different games while Smash 4 and Ultimate have just felt like remixes of the previous game.

>>729102113
It really is funny that Sakurai immediately said after the "Everyone is Here" reveal that they will almost certainly never do something like that again since it was only possible due things lining up well and there are people still coping and thinking they'll bring the whole roster back. He tried to temper expectations years in advance and people still aren't getting it.

>evolving the core gameplay
This isn't happening unless it's something insane like turning Smash into some sort of Power Stone-inspired 3D platform fighter, which would be interesting. Ultimate more or less feels like the finished, polished version of Sakurai's vision of Smash: casual, floaty, limited strings and combos that only work at specific %s, etc.

Rivals 2 is honestly a more interesting platform fighter than me to Smash at this point, and I can't think of any minor improvements to Smash that would change that. The DLC characters of Ultimate were interesting and very similar to Rivals' characters in terms of complexity, but they're poorly balanced and definitely had a net negative impact on the health of the game's multiplayer. If they don't learn from Ultimate to make sure that doesn't happen again, especially if they start redesigning existing characters to be that complex, I don't think I even want to play Smash 6 that much past the first month of the game
>>
>>729105556
Sakurai has said a lot of things he's gone back on in the past
>>
>>729105556
Rosterfags are some of the biggest manchildren in gaming. They don't even understand why none of their insane character suggestions are taken seriously, let alone understand how much work a game like Ultimate actually took.
>>
>>729100316
>lots of character reworks, particularly the original 12?

Whats even the point of that. Most of the original 12 use their most iconic moves. Maybe you can make the argument for Mario, DK and Kirby, but what the hell is Link going to do when Bombs, bows and the spin attack are in every game. The characters don't need any other change than maybe what they did for some characters in Smash 4.
>>
>>729105928
The problem here is the licensing. It might be possible to bring a lot of the Nintendo characters back now that they've updated them to a modern engine with an HD model (Smash 6 isn't going to look that different from Ultimate lets be honest), but the guest characters are a different story. With like 16 characters between 8 companies, most of them being DLC, there is no way Nintendo will want to spend the time and money to bring everyone back. Sakurai knew this. Probably the only reason they could make Ultimate happened is they were planning it while Smash 4's DLC was still ongoing and the only other company they needed to get the approval of was Konami. They probably also had to make some other concessions which are why the 3rd Party Miis are paid DLC again where all the Nintendo ones, including ones that were DLC in SMash 4, were in the base game for free.

>>729100414
The clone characters should definitely have bigger differences in their movesets and/or stats. At least visually.
Some of the oldest characters should also get their moves updated to be less generic and include more references to their previous games.
>>
>>729099987
there are a million popular characyers they havent added yet

Hes open to using generative ai and the only real limiting factor to smash is the animation numbers.
