>"gameplay loop"
It's just "gameplay"!

Running and jumping in Mario is not the "gameplay loop" because levels stop you from running and jumping when you die or finish the level.

gay loop

>levels stop you from running and jumping when you die or finish the level.
And then you start the next one.
>>
>enter dungeon
>kill monsters
>return to town to heal and buy new gear
>repeat

that's a gameplay loop. not all games have them

I do hate the term gameplay loop and immediately look down on anyone who uses it as a soulless insect who instinctively tries to reduce everything into mechanical parts. I never heard a good game developer use that term, just limp-dicked millennials tried to get in on the youtube video essay mill.

you'll understand when you're older little nigga

to me, "gameplay loop" falls under the same category of faggotry as calling levels/areas "content"
just reduces everything to "we're just heckin monkeys on a rock in space!!! I LOVE SCIENCE!!!!!"

If you have fun doing something it’s not a loop
It’s just you having fun.
Why would I say that I’m in a loop that implies that what I’m doing is a bad thing?

Why would a loop a bad thing?
If it's a fun loop, who cares that it's a loop?
>that implies
That's just you imagining shit

wrong its a real thing but almost everyone abuses it and uses it to replace just gameplay
>>
>>729100263
Nah it works for certain games. Monster Hunter for example has you follow a series of common actions that loop into each other.
>hunt/do quests
>upgrade gear
>manage the hub
>stock up for bigger hunts
>bigger hunts grant access to more gear and quests and upgrades
It works for a specific type of gameplay style.

No, they mean different things. The gameplay loop is more zoomed out than the gameplay
>>
Gameplay loops are real, and they became far more noticeable when crafting became a big thing in games. You go out, collect resources, craft them to make better tools, then go out to collect better resources, then craft those to make even better tools....Crafting mechanics tend to result in very obvious loops. You can't blame people for noticing this.

>low iq retards are STILL getting upset by perfectly sound descriptive terms
never change /v/
>>
>>729115803
>>729115902
the problem is that not every game has a gameplay loop but retards insist everything containing gameplay is a loop (mario going through the level to reach the flagpolel?? GAMEPLAY LOOP!!!!1)
>>
>>729100263
gameplay doesn't mean anything
it's like bookread or moviewatch
>>
>>729116071
gameplay loop describes how to design more content for a given game
if your gameplay loop is to go out and get materials to craft shit with you get more gameplay by adding more materials or more recipes
mario's gameplay loop is to go through levels so you get more gameplay by making more levels
it's a game design term because it tells you how to design your game
