First time ever playing this game. Around 60 hours in, I dont think I am even halfway through. This is just Skyrim but done good.
>>
>>729101063
It's still good after 300 hours for me. DLCs are even better
>>
>>729101389
Does the game actually have 300 hours of content or are you playing it just too slow? I am still fucking around in Velen and Novigrad right now
>>
>>729101063
Skyrim but made by Europeans
>>
>>729102321
Basically. The average side quest that was just basic find X item in a dungeon in Skyrim at least has a twist and a moral choice in witcher. Both worlds are really pretty and both combats are unfortunately ass.
>>
>>729101063
it's a GOAT

How the fuck do you even spend 60 yours in it? There's not that much to do, even with the Ubbysoft world design.
My 100% Nightmare file has 43 hours, and that was the playthrough where I read every book/note and didn't fast travel.
>>
>>729103909
Why do you lie this hard, your pants are an inferno of fire.
>>
>>729102149
I finished the main game + 1 dlc in 47 hours...
>>
>>729103909
What? Unless you are speedrunning like a retard doing anything close to 80-90% of the content takes like at least 100 hours and this is without mentioning the DLCs
>>
>>729101063
it's one of the GOATs and i thought the same thing about the skyrim comparison when it came out, but the games actually scratch very different itches for me and i still come back to skyrim
>>
I uninstalled after I heard geralt mutter "hmm maybe I should check that out" for the fifth time.
Also combat blew cock. At least in Skyrim you can play stealth archer and skip all the combat.
>>
>>729105217
you are brown
>>
>>729105217
Combat is not the best but its definitely better than Skyrims lets be honest. Still for witcher 4 they need to fix combat big time
>>
>>729105217
on easy difficulty it takes like 2 swings to kill an enemy so it's pretty skippable
>>
>>729101063
It's the new Skyrim-beater!

>No character creation, no selection of race or class. You must be a Witcher and you must be Geralt and you must take on the baggage of his established story
>Towns are just backdrops. You talk to the designated questgivers and you enter the few buildings permitted. Most NPCs are invincible and most buildings are locked off from you. You can't steal, pickpocket, or otherwise transgress. Enjoy the scenery and pretend you don't notice the lack of interactivity.
>If you hold down the dash button while you're riding Roach, you're magnetised to the nearest road. You're not trusted to explore on your own initiative. You're treated like a senior citizen in a home, always being steered towards to the place that nursey thinks is best for you.

This is a stifling prison of a game compared to the freedom of Skyrim.
>>
>>729102149
Somewhere between 100-150. I spent 9 days in a row playing it when it came out. ~15h*9
I felt so empty when it was over
>>
>>729106632
As a completionistI tried doing every ? on the map. Then I arrived in Skellige and gave
>>
>>729106632
And thats without the dlcs right? I havent touched the dlcs yet either, how long are they?

blood and wine is beyond kino

by far the best dlc ever made
>>
>>729101063
Boring ass shit i could never finish.
It's a great game in every category but I just cant be fucked to play it.

Maybe if i gave a shit about maguffins in a story? Not sure.
>>
>>729107115
I havent done any of the dlcs, do I do them after I finish the main story or?
>>
>>729107115
Anna Henrietta is worth the price of admission alone
>>
>>729101063
Skyrim is honestly the better RPG but the witcher 3 is the better game
>>
>>729105446
Nothing they do could make witcher 4 enticing to me, i do not play as foids.
>>
>>729107238
yeah, base game > hearts of stone > blood and wine
>>
>>729107238
hearts of stone you can do whenever but you'll wanna be a higher level. save blood & wine for very last because it is geralt's retirement run
>>
>>729106959
First DLC is about 10 hours, the others is 3 or 4x that amount. Its about the size of Velen + Novigrad
>>
Velen has incredible atmosphere, loved hem swamps.
>>
>>729102149
I think base game can easily tear up 100 hours unless you just speed through the main quest without exploring or delving into the side quests/witcher contracts.
>>
>>729107501
I agree, I like Velen a lot, though I havent visited Skellige yet
>>
>>729101063

>just skyrim

any comparison is an insult
>>
>>729105856
Novigrad and Oxenfurt are more big than Windhelm or Solitude. And you can see outside the windows, seeing people out them moving accordingly. During night, you can see lights coming out the windows and people moving accordingly inside the building. In skyrim there's nothing like that.
>>
Elder Scrolls scratches a different itch. I like them both.
>>
>>729107115
Lynch would prefer Hearts of Stone
>>
>>729103909
what the fuck is nightmare. there's no difficulty named that. you mean deathmarch? and you cant beat the game and read every note in 43 hours. you're retarded and cringe.
>>
>>729110859
>just put an actual library of books in your game, therefore you have a long videogame

Dandelion had her down for the dick. That dude had insane rizz. Playing a lute in front of a girls house now in almost 2026, straight to a protective order lmao.

wait until you get to the rushed final chapter
>>
>>729110110
Dutchy at night, it actually benefitted from ray tracing and its the first time I've seen it actually work.
>>
>>729110694
>hearts of stone
>directed and produced by David Lynch
Holy shit that would have been awesome
>>
What happened to Priscilla was a bummer too. Wish they had her actually get better over the course of the game. Everytime you visted her she got into better health. She didnt deserve that beating.
>>
>>729105856
This. TES is a sandbox, go anywhere and do anything with immersive NPC behavior. Witcher 3 is a completely static MMO world with a predefined AAA story
>>
>>729113947
Thats why i loved 3 so much, it was like playing it all over again and being envelopes in the story again.

How do I convince my female coworker to play this game? She likes Bioware games for the romances but has preconceived notions that the Witcher franchise is sexist garbage.

>>
>>729113947
Witcher is great, better than Elder Scrolls in a lot of ways. But the actual sandbox that Elder Scrolls is doesn't get enough credit. You can start a new character and spend 100+ hours doing completely different shit from the other characters, apart from a 30 minute intro. You get roughly three playthroughs or more basically playing a different narrative and doing different quests.
There's a big difference between them there despite both being open world games.
TW3 is good for one new playthrough every five years or more. Skyrim can be replayed right away.
>>
/v/ shat on it so much I almost started to believe it was bad, but replaying it like a decade later I realize it's legitimately and amazing game.
>>
>>729114487
I'll accept the concession, kouhai.
>>
Finished the game years ago but heard they nerfed a lotta shit in the next gen update. Is the Blood and Wine Euphoria build still OP as fuck?
>>
>>729107115
Yeah, upon a recent playthrough I realized that, as much as olgierd and iris's story touched me, ultimately the story of both syanna and detlaff was a lot more moving. Especially the bad both sisters die ending which is just so perfectly tragic.
>>
>>729115104

Yes, it doesn't hit as hard but it's still the best build for Death March.

Did you unify the northern realms under whoreson or go with Roche and have Nilfguard take over the entire region?

Personally I'd choose Nilfguard, its better that everybody be subjected equally under a dictatorship then have a fascist North do holocaust towards the non humans.
>>
>>729115332
Cool man i'll do another death march run with Euphoria with the next gen update
>>
>>729102149
100-120 hours in the main game if you're a giga autist who'll 100% all the underwater treasures.
30 hours max for Hearts of Stone which is the best story in the game.
60+ hours to 100% Blood and Wine where the whole setting serves to give Geralt a soapy wank of a sendoff. Certain builds allow you to carve though entire Hanses as if you were wielding a lightsaber and give you a Hero cinematic afterwards.
>>
>>729101063
I admit, Im not the biggest fan of "difficult" games in general, but people who play RPGs like this on anything but easy are strange creatures.
If it was truly skillbased, then sure, maybe, but when most of the difficulty is either just statchecks or "oopy doopy you got hit twice in a row that means you die instantly" I just dont see the appeal. The only appeal is when the mechanics allow for it, or when you are able to powergame the difficulty away. I can at least respect that sort of big number autism
All this to say, Witcher 3 is really good when you play it on easy and just breeze through the combat. It has good writing and worthwhile exploration to unlock more writing since the random monsters you meet are interesting and thematic.
>>
The quality of /v/ gets lower every day.
>>
>>729110110
and yet it all means nothing when the buildings are just facades and the people are just moving cardboard cutouts.

And when Kiera was impaled, that was a fucking brutal scene and the kids are dancing and laughing around her corpse. I've seen gore in games, and was always "meh" about it. But the brutality, and the image of her impaled actually bothered me. Like feeling actual feelings of sadness, empathy, and remorse over her death. Because it made you like the characters, made you like the sorceresses. And seeing them hurt bothered you, and having radovid for his extermination of them, and almost being legit angry at all the death he had in his wake.
>>
I enjoyed the books despite main saga not being very engaging (short stories collections were awesome). I've played through W3 once, done main story and haven't picked up ever since. It's just so boring to play.
I've seen the full story of HoS on youtube though, it was great, especially as a Pole myself.
>>
>>729101063
For me it's Blood and Wine. Best video game world ever made. Still feel warm inside just thinking about those elysian hills, colourful cities, pastoral hamlets and blue skies.
