How do you make 4 more special infected that constitute an environmental hazard? Personally, I would just rip off the special infected from Dead Space.Now how do you make the game appealing to both new players and veterans? Having 8 special infected was already a lot for someone jumping into L4D2 to wrap their head around, now ask them to remember 12. Unless L4D3 came bundled with both of the previous games so people could learn the special infected as veterans learned them, 4 at a time. I don't know if Valve still has the pro-consumer mentality that they had during The Orange Box days.Now there's the challenge of making 4 new survivors in the current year. People are so politically balkanized these days that no matter what you make the characters, somebody is going to take offense. The characters of the first two games were written in a different time, by today's standards I'm sure you could find something to be offended by in the stable from the first two games. You could either make all of the characters bland thereby offending nobody or make all of the characters an offensive caricature, intentionally offending everybody. I would make the 4 characters a Maga republican, a special snowflake democrat, a shirtless post-op ftm transsexual and a pregnant amish woman.

Veterans would be like oh that's cool I guess and new players would be drawn in because of the existing lore. Hey did you know the characters in this game were referenced in the second game? I could see them having done this for DLC campaigns way back when L4D2 was still relatively new or doing this currently as a spin off to gauge interest in another L4D sequel.
