XP is like gold you can’t trade, can’t drop, can’t lose, and that only exists to tell you when you’re allowed to play with other people.
If you could trade XP then everyone could get max level instantly via RMT
>>729108483If the only thing stopping RMT is making the game boring, that’s not a win.WoW has something like a 3% retention rate to max in Classic.
>>729108728I'll take "boring games" over games with P2W mechanics any day.
>>729108728Players can have like 10 characters per realm and usually only level one or two of them to max, your statistics don't mean anything.
>>729109067If the defense against P2W is making progression miserable, that’s not a great design argument. Designing boredom as a safeguard against P2W feels like a failure of imagination.>Let people play any class and profession they want.>Actually make the economy matter, e.g., material repairs durability.>People don't leave in droves.>Profit.>>729109509Characters per account is approximately 1.
>>729109636Then go swipe your credit card in a Korean MMO shithead, have the time of your life. I won't play it though.
>>729110345You’re acting as if this is hypothetical, but we already have boosts and carries. Free max levels is actually less P2W.
>>729108185>can’t loseStop playing casual MMOs
I started enjoying MMOs a lot more when I started selling gold, honestly. I started playing them in a more defined fashion, trying to figure out how to do things most effectively, efficiently, and not worrying about other dumb shit.
>>729111018>Approximately nobody wants XP.>Better double down.
>>729110936Yea the MMO genre is sooo great, we got the pay for this and the pay for that, I LOVE PAYING OINK OINK!
>>729111407You’re already oinking -- you’re just mad you can’t cash out.
>yeah (shitty korean MMO that only kids played because it's free and runs in a browser) is so much better than (literally most popular MMO of all time) because you can swipe your credit card and level up faster that way!why do you keep making this thread?
>>729113269What a huge strawman. Are there even any MMOs without leveling?
Themeparks need devs to constantly inject content because the systems don’t create stories on their own. Sandboxes offload that work to players. That’s not laziness -- that’s genius.
>>729113350Foxhole
>>729108728>WoW has something like a 3% retention rate to max in Classic.Well that's obviously bullshit.
Every mmo should either be ironman like or just have RMT built in. Niggas are going to do it anyways, the company might as well be the one facilitating that transaction.
>>729116094Ironman only makes sense for a game like Runescape because you can trade almost anything. If you look at hardcore WoW's implementation of it, it barely changes the game.
>>729108185so its not like gold at all, you fucking nigger.
>>729108185and that's a good thing
>>729108728>WoW has something like a 3% retention rate to max in Classic.Vanilla WoW needed more quests from about level 40 onwards. They get too few and far between, require too much insane travel distance and you need too many of them to reach the next level. Questing is the fun part of WoW, no one wants to sit there and grind mobs mindlessly but at a certain point you are strongly encouraged to do so.
>>729115903What do you mean? There are like 1.5B PC players.https://www.vg247.com/only-30-of-new-wow-players-continue-after-level-10-says-blizzard.https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/news/what-if-wow-quietly-revealed-a-9-million-subscriber-number/.
>>729116094Games should have a real money auction house so players can cash out.
>>729117119>Questing is the fun part of WoWObviously, approximately no one thinks so.
>>729118426I agree. The Diablo 3 Real Money Auction House was simply ahead of its time.
>>729118784People say they tuned drop rates too low, but what was the money per hour?
>>729118881Drop rates were definitely built with the auction house in mind, no idea on how much anyone made from actually farming that. Most I did was the "big mac barbarian" build to get started iirc.
>>729118986I chose barbarian and didn't make it to max. I should've.
>>729118784They knee jerk pulled it. I don't think anybody actually had a problem with it (and a lot of people probably stopped playing when they removed it).
