Robin Shou (Liu Kang) has a background in Hong Kong action cinema and he choreographed a lot of the fights in the movie, and it really shows. My fav fight is Liu Kang vs a nameless monk. Kung Lao and Raiden quipping and bantering like Johnny Cage was so fucking bad. How hard is it to write a shaolin monk?? Very simple character archetype but they refuse to do it. Definitely feels like the current generation of writers (not just games but in general) are insecure about not being able to write serious dramatic dialogue and try to mask it with self-reference and absurdism
