Did he actually? That's funny since /tv/ didn't and jannies even deleted threads with anons complaining that he didn't get one
>>
>>729118309
who the fuck cares about /tv/? They're a bunch of fags who are more concerned about box office results and budgets than they are about enjoying movies

i rewatched this the day I heard about his passing. Honestly a 10/10 movie. The choice of music and the sound effects are incredible. Robin Shou (Liu Kang) has a background in Hong Kong action cinema and he choreographed a lot of the fights in the movie, and it really shows.

My fav fight is Liu Kang vs a nameless monk. Super visceral and intense. Watch:

the point of a sticky is to centralize discussion to one thread at the very top, to prevent the catalogue from being flooded about a topic. the cod creator and respawn co founder being killed requires a sticky, the actor that played a vidya character 30 years ago isnt going to get hundreds of replies so no sticky required.

>shitjeet still seething that people respect CoD more than some ancient old fuck that was in an unc game

Is youtube automatically upscaling videos now or something? Most older videos at 1080p look odd now.
>>
>>729119262
Might be your graphics card driver settings, both nvidia and amd have settings to upscale videos on your browser with super resolution tech. Could also be YouTube locking the actual 1080p quality behind a paid subscription "1080p premium" and arbitrarily decreasing the quality of the free 1080p option compared to what users used to get

In spite of the movie being pg13 and not having blood and gore, I feel like it managed to capture the feel of the original MK games better than what other video game adaptations did for their source material. Ed Boon and crew made MK about classic martial arts films and 80s action movies and that's exactly what the MK movie delivered.

Yes I really appreciate how the tone felt like a high fantasy and not a comic book. The elaborate sets and the dialogue from characters like Raiden and Shang help to make it feel really otherworldly. Whereas the post-2011 MK games and the 2021 MK movie are more like a comic book story "this happens, and then this happens, and then that happened, and then they go here to get this, and they go here to do that..."

I guess there is an argument to be made that MK presented in comic book adventure fashion is appropriate because that's how John Tobias communicated the story in the very early days of the series (via comic books) but IMO the games themselves felt more fleshed out than that, especially starting with MK4 and MK Mythologies and probably peaking around MK Deception

All the recent shit is too self aware. It's that "erm, well that just happened" type of shit, it's awful.

I bought MK1 on sale because I wanted to check out what they did with nu-Havik and nu-Ashrah. I tried to play a bit of the story mode. Kung Lao and Raiden quipping and bantering like Johnny Cage was so fucking bad. How hard is it to write a shaolin monk?? Very simple character archetype but they refuse to do it. Definitely feels like the current generation of writers (not just games but in general) are insecure about not being able to write serious dramatic dialogue and try to mask it with self-reference and absurdism
>>
>>729119194
The fact MK95 was bound by rating limitations and still had this many fatalities was a pretty amazing feat
>>
>>729120394
Joss Whedon and the MCU has had terrible consequences for the state of western fiction dialogue
>>
>>729120838
MK has strayed far from its cheesy 80s/90s action film roots and all the people that write for it now only have Marvel movies as a reference which is why everyone acts like in an ironic way all the time and why they shifted the focus of the series to the Kombat Kids
