>>729119342so is the person with the steam account with that user acc ID screwed?
>>729119342Dude, the guy who wrote this code should work at Blizzard

why are those functions static
>>729120616A twitch streamer who defetead /v/ now he lives rent freein their threads, eternally.
>>729119342>alarm[0] = room_speedlol you fucking suck at programing bro. using gamemaker alarms instead of your own timer variables that tick based on delta time or t (time flow variable). Also that's not going to work you fuckgin retard. any scene group will just use a different name or id because they can use ANY.all this will do is fuck over the guy with that id number and anyone who names their steam "IGGGAMES" which is doable in your steam profile. And no one is going to put the app_id of Spacewar into their steam emu. they'll just use your games app_id.
>>729120726Steam is a single instance program anon
>>729119342Did they get this list from 2008? some ancient IDs that arent used anymore

give this man a logical OR
>>729119342Ah yes, contextless bullshit probably related to some e-celeb, my favorite kind of thread.Kill yourself you fucking nigger
>>729119342>>729121417This, seeing someone unironically using GM's built-in alarm system immediately exposes them as being a complete noob. The thing is, it's not even that the code sucks, it's that he acted like he was some kind of ancient coding guru talking down to peasants when he explained how it was supposed to work. His sense of self-importance was infuriating and I'm glad the roach thing eventually happened to expose this fraud
>>729120493I hate steam newfags go dieevery steam starts with 7
>>729121417>all of the game's dialogue and plot triggers are just held in a giant one-dimensional array and referred to directly by numerical index>if he ever wants to add something to the middle of the game he has to rewrite all the indexes of everything coming afterwards, then rewrite the references to those indexes everywhere else in the projecthonestly, being forced to finish this game is a punishment in of itself for piratesoftware. I released a game on steam with problems similar to this when I was a complete novice programmer and it was hell on earth; of course the difference is that I didn't try to convince everyone I was some kind of coding savant while doing it
>>729119342weak nigga shittry having a game so unpopular it doesn't even get pirated
lots of modders add this kind of stuff into their mods so you can't use them on pirated games
>>729127591Dicksuck Mode
>>729127701No.
Nigga I pirate even free games. You can't stop me.
>>729127454or you could simply not do that? not everyone has ocd although i admit it would be a bit confusing and unclean
>>729119342you just made this in vscode and snipped it didn't you
>>729128528Not do what? I was talking about how storing everything in a giant array and referring to its contents with raw indexes all throughout your project is a novice mistake that eventually turns your project into a giant headache. It's usually preferable to make some kind of interface for accessing that kind of data using stuff like enums and/or wrapping your containers inside of structs with accessors
>>729129763>if he ever wants to add something to the middle of the game he has to rewrite all the indexes of everything coming afterwardshey mr smarty pants you literally wrote it down so don't pretend you didn't say it. you could you know just not add variables in the middle lol. just because the index increases doesn't mean it has to be orderedi'm sorry you apparently actually had to do it though. totally unnecessary but probably a good lesson none the less
>>729130142Oh, I misunderstood what you meant. Yeah, I guess you could just keep adding on to the top of the array, but even without OCD I'd imagine doing that would feel awful in terms of organization. He'd literally be pairing dialogue strings to NPCs by remembering raw index numbers that aren't even sequential at that point, and if I remember correctly, his dialogue array was reaching hundreds of indexes. It would be possible, just frustrating. I guess you could say it's in bad taste to continue dogpiling on him after all this time, but as someone who uses GM regularly, his videos were SO uniquely frustrating for the fact that he always seemed to be talking down to people as some kind of grizzled expert while the actual code on his screen was completely novice, yet none of his viewers seemed to notice to the point I thought I was taking fucking crazy pills
>>729131103again i'm sorry you rewrote half your array every time you created a new variable instead of simply appending it at the end
