>>729121463AI sloppa
>>729121463Bethesda could NEVER design a city that looks that big
>>729121463>you can now visit the same cave outpost for the 8th time (in a row)... AND SEE YOUR LASERS REFLECTION IN A PUDDLE!thank you but I will pass desu ne
>>729121463What were Bethesda thinking releasing a game like Starfield? Did they think they were too big to fail?
>>729121706i doubt you played it cause no one did but it was actually pretty good. it just wasnt on the level of elder scrolls or even fallout.
>>729121706seems like Todd just really wanted to make it and took everyone else on the right. its alright.
more toddslop no thanks
>>729121832It was such a giant departure from what they usually make and nothing came together in any meaningful way
if you're going to AI generate things at least keep the train consistent.
>>729121832>it wasn't on the same level as their other two shit franchises, but it was quite good actually
>>729121990>It was such a giant departure from what they usually makeIt was basically just a fallout game without VATS and with 1000% more empty space and worse writing.
>>729121706The concept isn't necessarily a bad one. There's just very little talent left at BGS.
>>729122178And a far less interesting setting. I love exploring the TES and Fallout worlds and learning about the lore. Starfield in comparison has no story or lore to really speak of, and what’s there is the most bland generic slop imaginable
>>729122178the biggest issue is that they took out their usual gameplay loop of exploring and looting and replaced it with copy pasted caves and outposts with nothing to find
>>729121463Second most boring game I've ever played, just after RDR2.
>>729121463Does the update make the game even slightly bit more entertaining?
>>729121706Their team was pretty sick and tired doing TES and Fallout and wanted to make something new. They failed utterly but it satiated their desire to move away from TES and Fallout for a bit and Starfield is now permanently shelved and too damaged as an IP to bother with a sequel.Prior to Microshit buying them their devs and employees have been making the same games for decades.
The game is goodhttps://youtu.be/wLSNxyRhCLY
>>729122382But horse testicles tho
>base building is a thing>but the endgame gameplay is basically a parallel universe loop and maxing out force powers ad infinitum
>>729122435>"their team was tired of making TES">editor's note: they had only made TWO (2) TES games in the last 20 years
I got it really modded it with great hdr and realistic ballistics harder ai and tons of cool stuff and it had some good firefights. It has outpost building, and ship customization. Really a lot of potential. But was ultimately just a boring fast travel similator. There is so many boring empty repetitive planets with the same outpost layouts and only a small number of real locations.Space combat is boring, though disabling and boarding ships is cool for awhile.Zero g sometimes adds variety. You cannot really fly the ship between destinations, cannot fly it on planets or use its weapons while landed. No real vehicles but huge empty zones. The story is dull, the dialog options almost don't have any impact on story direction, and the characters all feel like dei robots missing soul designed to meet a woke agenda and not real people. Like they take ssris and you should be depressed too.It has everything needed to be great but you can just feel the multiple seperate jeet teams working on parts then combining it into something missing the right spark.
>>729122815Exactly my point, they were developing Oblivion and Skyrim for decades with Fallout 3, 4 and 76 somewhere
>>729121832>it was actually pretty good. it just wasnt on the level of elder scrolls or even falloutThis. The game is at the very least a 7/10.Mechanically, it's the best game they've ever made. Planetary vistas are detailed and beautiful. The starship building system is pretty damn good and the resource management of flying them is fun to mess with too.The downside is that only some of the questlines are good. The others are distinctly uninspired. The setting is "fine" but doesn't have any exotic appeal to draw you in.Once you do all the quests, there's very little left to do besides generated spacer outposts. As a result of there being 100 planets, all of the handcrafted content tends to have you getting nudged to go find it, which further reduces the sense of exploration. It's necessary, however, as you'd literally never find it otherwise.
>>729121706They wanted to make a boomer game and succeeded at that. It's just that there's not as many forum dads as they are loud and to everyone else it was a one and done.
>>729123232>they were developing Oblivion and Skyrim for decadesNot how it works. You cannot make two games in 20 years and shit your pants as if you're Ubisoft with Ass Creed or RGG with Yakuza.
>>729123256>and the resource management of flying themstarfield ships have unlimited fuel
>>729121519pretty fitting for jeetfield
>>729123362>putting yakuza on the same level as ass creed
>>729123383I mean this of course. It makes it more fun than "move your joystick around then press X when the reticle lines up". Maybe a little gimmicky but I had fun with it, like taking power from my jumper jets to power up my lasers in the fight even if it means I can't escape.>unlimited fuelThey actually meant to have it, but it was stripped out because of playtesters. There was actually a complex climate system and injury system that got lobotomized.
>>729124040missed image because of fucking captcha
>>729121463What is this jeet cope? startroon will never be good, it can't be fixed.
>>729123597In terms of the dev teams behind the games going from one entry immediately to the next, sure. RGG went back to back from 1 to 2 to Kenzan to 3 to 4 to Dead Souls to 5 to Ishin to 0 to Kiwami to 6 to Kiwami 2 to Fist of the North Star to Judgment to 7 to Lost Judgment to Ishin Kiwami to The Man Who Erased His Name to 8 to Pirate Yakuza to Kiwami 3. Back to back, with what? Binary Domain and a couple Monkey Balls inbetween only? Compare that with Todd and co. making two Elder Scrolls between 2003~2023.
>>729121463You know what, I believe it. Claude code has been going hard since the opus update. A decent size team could probably shit out an AAA game in a month with how good AI code agents have gotten.
>>729124040>There was actually a complex climate systemyeah right lol
>>729121589how did mass effect do it? fuck even halo?
Starfield is just missed opportunity the game. They could have found a cult following but they cucked out of any interesting stuff at the finish line.>injuries>hazardous climates>ship fuel>resource management>interesting economicsAll gutted at the last second because play testers got frustrated when they immediately burned up leaving their ship without any thermal protection. They had a decent vision and because they didnt follow through we got a game made for no one.
>>729124682shut up dumbass, don't ask stupid questions
If the exploration was good it would have succeeded. People still play skyrim because the exploration is god-tier
>>729124040>They actually meant to have it, but it was stripped out because of playtestersYou can even tell how the starting dungeon making zero sense being forced is due to this btw. Chances are originally your ship was low on fuel and you had to land on Kreet to resupply, which is why the dungeon ends with the conspicuous roof with access to a bunch of fuel tanks which in the final game are pretty much useless sans for crafting materials. When they cut that mechanic they must've come up with the retarded Protocol Indigo excuse where Vasco expects you to solo an entire bandit camp because he fears they can follow you to the heavily defended capital planet full of police ships after you jump to lightspeed which in every other instance in the game serves to get away from any active firefight.
>>729124627meaning that you'd have to bring a suitable hot weather suit to a hot plant and a cold weather suit to a cold planet, make considerations for atmosphere, etc.and those planets' conditions could seriously hard you, rather than the "-5% O2 because it's cold" that made it into the final gameyou notice that the healing items are all color coded with symbols and everything. its because they would have had complex injuries based on the environment you stumbled into unpreparedsee: >>729124779
>>729121463Never touching this shit again. Don't care how pretty it looks. Loading screen simulator. Bad writing. Boring sterile universe. Skyrim with guns but worse. Dragon shouts but space. Beth better pull it out of the fucking bag with their next elder scrolls game or they deserve to go under.
>>729121463still got those fugly nigger npcs yikes
>>729121463>>729121653Is this AI??
>>729125457One thing that is a very valid criticism. What I think is most funny is the Vlad character.I'm 97% sure the war in Ukraine happened and MS went "uhhh... ummm... make him Black and we'll be home free from many criticism".
>>729125572No, whatever would make you say that.
Genuinely can't wait, despite its many flaws I still really enjoy it. I wish it had more women to marry because it being the first Bethesda game where you can romance everyone at once is crazy.
>>729125192This plus all the npcs talk like dead fish or forced to be cheerful
>>729125684>wanting some used up whore following you at all times when you could be shooting up Aurora with Mickey Caviar between engagements instead
>>729122178And Dragon Shouts, Can't forget the useless Space Dragon Shouts.
>>729121589Modern day Bethesda, no
>>729121832i bought on launch and played 9 hrs til i realized the world was shallow as a puddle, did not care about the world like with their other stuff
>>729121463Is 90% of this game just walking around this boring ass city full of ugly NPCs?
>>729126669Wow anon thats a real brave and unique opinion you got there.
>>729121463have they mentioned anything about if there will be less loading screens or if it's just going to be superficial bullshit that doesn't really fix any of the core complaints?
>>729126720No you got like 10 similar destinations you travel between, then 100 empty stale planets with the same few repeated buildings and interiors far apart and maybe some odd unrealistic wildlife and plants.Tons of resources you can spend forever gathering for marginal upgrades or use in outpost building which uses entirely different navigation controls and is slow (play with a gamepad) and tedious and a fraction of the fun of a fallout 4 putpost. The game has a ton of mechanics it just feels like walking around in walmart with an ssri zombie friend.
>>729127768Can't believe they're still trying to save this game instead of going all hands on deck for TESVI.
>>729126319it was more in depth than what eventually made it into the game
>>729126720youre thinking of cyberpunk. starfield is more about walking on an empty planet
>>729126720No it's also designing starships, which is probably the coolest thing in the game.
>>729122178no gore, bad gunplay, even melee is worse than fallout 4 which is saying something.
It was already perfect.
>>729122809>the force powers are dogshit even maxxed out>takes literally something like 60 hours of playtime speedrunning "temples" to max them out>the unity loop/ng+ is just a poorly thought out bandaid fix for the engine unraveling the longer you play a saveits all so tiresome
>>729128518>One of the only end-game tasks to do is build the ultimate spaceship>One of the other end-game tasks is unity looping>Unity looping destroys your spaceship and sets your credits to 0It's like they didn't realize that losing potentially tens of hours of grinding in an instant, would piss people off.
>>729121832I pirated it and finished it. Its fucking bad man. A complete failure in every aspect.
>>729128021Which all fly the same, pivot like you are some kind of giant gimbal with no accounting for dimensions or mass distribution and cannot be flown from destinations or on a planet. You fast travel around with it. So it is definitely cool but almost pointless except the storage quantity and jump distance. Transfering storage between ships by changing active one is a good way to have inventory go missing from wildly different storage amounts causes the decorations and junk in the interior to be put in inventory, and you have to do so to even capture or pilot a new ship to check it out.
>>729127895t. did not play the gameThere are abandoned facilities every where on every fucking planet
>>729122178This does sum it up pretty good. I will admit that building your ship was neat. Everything else was just shallow and the repeating POIs were disappointing. If the setting and story were better it would help a lot.
I want this game just for the star wars mod but they still want $71 kangaroo bux ON SALE for a 2 year old game that was received poorly on steam.Fuck that shit, I wouldn't pay anything above $40 for something I am not even going to touch vanilla.
Someone release howard's original design documents NOW
30% of threads these days are just jeets reposting some AI slop they liked
>>729129893Not quite your target price, but the Premium Version is on sale for $50 via Green Man GamingYou can also just pay $15 for Games Pass to try it for a month.
>>729121706>they should make Fallout and Elder Scrolls games only
>>729121706they ARE too big to failstarfield is garbage yet it still sold millions of copies
>>729124682Mass Effect gives you a tiny tiny sliver of a city to explore and leaves you to imagine what the rest might be like. This doesn't work for an open world game design. Bethesda gives you a scaled down version of a city and leaves you to pretend it's bigger than it is.
>>729124682Mass Effect is mostly a beautiful skybox. Which actually works better for your imagination than a Bethesda village.Illium looked like a proper space Hong Kong with rich blue brats.
>>729121706Honestly I think they worked a miracle with the engine but upper management failed to understand that wouldnt translate into a good video game. They also stagnated when cyberpunk and bg3 pushed the genre far ahead. Lastly, I think Microsoft policy (or their own) for COVID really fucked over a lot of studios but it hurt them worse than others because it was more draconian (MS wanted the good goy points). All that combined just led to a really boring, uninspired, behind the times product that was probably rushed out because they made minimal progress from 2020 on
anyone talking shit about this game either: A) never played it, orB) is a faggot with shit taste
>>729133645>Merchants have like 5000 credits >Meaning the people who are selling fucking laser guns and advanced caseless miniguns have at most the cash to buy 100 sandwichesThat's fucking retarded and you know it.
I am so sick of proc gen space games
>>729132213it only sold 4m copies because everyone just played it on game pass
>>729121463You can do anythingbe anyonesee that planet? you can go there
>>729121463Ah an empty location cool with 2 clothing options
>>729121706They should have released it under some dummy company name and just been the publisher. The fact this was one of their big releases next to Fallout and Elder Scrolls is legitimately hilarious.
>>729121706The only thing I can guess is they half assed the world and everything that made oblivion and Skyrim so special because it was meant to be systems focused instead, but then Microsoft came down and mandated those systems be gutted for casuals leaving the game with nothing.
>>729121706They used our goodwill. I bought the game thinking it would have a good gameplay loop regardless of the story. After raiding the same exact science lab for the third time and doing the neon quest where you can't even kill your narc sellout gang members I dropped it.
the fact the did the temple thing of the exact same one 24 times or whatever with the same thing.. not like making them unique, having stories on the walls whilst you venture deeper into them or something. I couldn't believe how fucking nothing this tranny shit was
>>729121706>Fuck it, the goyim loved skyrim and that was just 100 procgenned draugr ruins with the dumbest characters and plotlines to exist>They won't even be able to tell the difference
>>729132213Devil may cry 2 sold better than reputation damage is a very real thing, I certainly won't be buying ES6 (unless the sailing parts are really good)
>>729134167Imagine if every temple was themed around the power you got.
all Todd had to do was basically elder Scrolls in a sci fi space setting.I have never seen such a lazy "game".
