What am I talking about? Well, the RSPS scene (RuneScape private server) has preserved various versions of the game.RuneScape classic (2001 - 2003): Jesus christ is this shit tedium incarnate. There's no reason to ever play this. The shift to RS2 occurred in 2004. There is an RSPS called 2004scape that is still in the year 2004, but will gradually go to 2006. Judging the game purely based off the year 2004? You do not want to be playing this version of the game. Watching paint dry will be more entertaining. It's in the same boat as RSC. When it gradually shifts to 2005 and 2006? Same issue. The problem is that old RuneScape wasn't good.2007 RS (Vidyascape) - Terrible server, terrible version of the game. Why? Because 2007 RuneScape wasn't good. Nostalgia simulator watch paint dry.2009scape - This is a 2009 version of the game but sadly they are having to recreate much of the game from scratch. What is offered is good, and it's the first server on the list that actually offers properly boosted xp. You might be like boosted xp, in a private server?! Yes. If you want 1:1 grinding go play the live game. However, there is a huge caveat. The game is still tedious as fuck and not really worth playing at all.2011scape - Lesser known server and forked off from 2009. Features Dungeoneering and stuff, but is mostly missing most of the content.
>>729129858CONT.2012scape - Same thing as 2011, but with lodestones and the toolbelt. I actually think this is the best server on the list because RuneScape is always better with MORE updates, not less. But that's my personal hot take. STILL tedious to play overall despite boosted xp. Why? Because RuneScape is historically an extremely tedious game.OSRS - In my honest opinion, despite adding more quality of life than ever, this game is not worth playing. It is extremely tedious, still slow, and infested with bots. There's nothing here for ME. I've moved on.RS3 - I genuinely think this is the best version of the game by far. Proper quality of life, more quests than ever, more skills, so many ways to train and bypass grinds (even on ironman). Of course the game is all about grinding, but ironman saves this game. Main is okay too not going to lie especially now that they are removing treasure hunter.RS3 won.
>>729129858Zoomie thinks his opinion holds weightCute
>>729129858RS3 is just a bad version of other MMOs. OSRS is unique. If you don't like grinding you'll hate it but there's nothing else quite like it
OSRS > 2004scape > RS3 > Brighter Snores
>>729130029it doesnt really hold weight but i think the general sentiment is still there. nobody wants to be playing these old tedious versions of runescape.
>forms a personal opinion and extrapolates it as a general playerbase sentimentokay lol.
>>729130327maybe? probably.i think if people wanted to play these versions of the games they'd just do a quick google search like i did and be playing them2004scape averages 100 people at any given time. quite good actually, but still very low in the grand scheme.vscape/2007scape technically pulls 130 unique players a day? not sure if i believe it but it usually has 30-40 people on at any given moment. terrible in the grand scheme, but okay,i guess.2009scape averages 30 players at any given moment. okay for a niche server, but terrible in the grand scheme.2011scape completely dead afaik2012 scape sometimes pulls like 20 players but usually sits around like 10. these servers are really not "for" anyone. they are just kind of here if that makes sense.
Troll
>>729130490im honestly not trolling. all i care about is the fun factor in video games and rs3 is easily the most fun version of rs simply due to not being a tedium simulator
>>729129858Runescape is shit, because the inventory and bank management are shit. Runescape is also not a real RPG.The lack of a good system for player housing also kills the game.
bump
OP probably played RS3 firstnostalgia/the version you experienced first will always feel like home for some reason
>>729129858>what am I talking about?I have no idea, sorry, I don’t play vidya
>>729130676?????>Can build massive house and customize it>It's actually usefulWhat, just because you can't show off your mountains of digital shit to passersby? I played games with "virtual real estate" type POH's and that's all it devolves into. Having to specifically load into an instance may as well be a feature. >People literally had Scrooge Mcduck's hoard filling every tile of their house>The game engine was so shit it slowed down if you turned off roofs in the POH area.>They paid for premium>They paid to live there>They paid to lag their own neighbourhood
