Can there ever be another game like Xenoblade?

I think the limitations of the wii helped with the game design
>>
Yep another 3 of them. Sure they are not quite as good but they still pretty good overall.

What Xenoblade did well over its sequels (though X is impressive in the same way) is the verticality of its world. You really got the sense of scaling a giant world from bottom to top. That kind of progression was sorely lacking in Xenoblade 2 and 3. 2 just felt kind of small overall except for Tantal, and 3, somehow, felt smaller, even though it had areas like the absolutely massive ocean. 3 is notably lacking in vertical areas, save for the first area, which is heavily segmented to the point you don't explore the rather tiny top half until you're 60 hours in.
I really hope whatever they make next time recaptures that sense of exploration and scale.

I still remember Chuggaaconroy (yeah I know) saying “you go anywhere you can see” and I thought “pffttt bet you can’t go to space” and they went to space. Then that comment made me realise how fucking grand the world of xc1 was.

There are a lot of shitty JRPGs released every year, what are you talking about?

No, vidya peaked here.

Chinese gachas filled the niche of huge openworlds for average gamer. Xenoblade got really fucked by being stuck on nintendo systems.

Hopefully. I loved all of them except for Xenoblade 2

its insane how xb1 is like the peak of monolith
XB2/XB3 feel like the straight to dvd sequel

Just finished XBC2 and yeah its world really was lacking. All throughout the game I kept thinking, "if this was XBC1, I'd be able to climb those to all those places". The map layout and navigation also sucked, holy fuck it was hard to find shit.

Neat ideas with the cloud sea thing but the rest of the game and world felt like it went nowhere with it. Seriously I avoided the cloud sea for a long time because I thought you'd fall off and die. Didn't realize you could actually swim in it until after several hours into the game.
