Now that the dust has settled did this save YIIK from both an artistic and practical standpoint?

I'm not afraid to say the YIIK post update is pretty good and really interesting.

Depends on what you mean by "saved." The update definitely polished some of the jank and filled some holes in the story, and the combat flows a bit better, but the core of YIIK is still the same awkward, navel-gazing mess it always was. If you didn't vibe with the original tone or characters, this isn't gonna pull a 180 for you.

That said, you can tell the devs actually cared this time around. It’s more cohesive, the art direction sings in parts, and the new content tries to earn its weirdness rather than just dumping it on you. So yeah, maybe it didn’t save it entirely, but it pulled it back from being a complete joke. Bare minimum: it’s interesting again.
