Why there are no pvp games based on 3v3 arenas from earlier WoW expansions like TBC?

I feel like it's insane that no company tried to capitalize on this market for years.

and in before faggots come and say league of legends. that's a different game genre and is no where close to wow arenas

I'll call it from now, the next big pvp genre will be something based on this.
>>
>>729141848

Edit: it doesn't have to be based on 3v3, could have multiple formats but I just prefer 3v3 myself.
>>
what's the difference between mobas with casual/short-form gamemodes and WoW pvp?
>>
Arena is the single most boring part of WoW PvP. Why the fuck would anyone want to play "run around pillars to block line of sight" as a full game?

Bloodline Champions

bloodline champions tried but isometric controls feel like ass
>>
>>729141848
you have to just play wow. there is nothing that will ever compare to arena.
>>
>>729141848
No one would play this if it wasn't attached to the mmo.

Per-match leveling and character building, PVE elements.

Unironically Elden ring did it

that's not tab targeting though

WoW arena is way too complex, people already struggle with 4 simple skills in MOBAs, imagine putting a fresh player in a WoW arena with 30 abilities, 10 different forms of crowd control with different synergies, different schools of magic, and just all around an extreme gap between skill floor and ceiling.
/v/ will seethe but WoW arena is way too high IQ to port to a standalone game without dumbing it down by an extreme degree.
>>
I remember when they pushed this to become e-sport. Most boring shait I had ever seen.
>>
>>729141848

I'm working on one now

wow pvp has a steep learning curve but aint nothing like it
>>
>>729142964
I've played wow for years and done the pvp enough.
You might have 30 abilties to press but the end result is: Press everything and pillar hump until healing reduction is at like 70% or higher and then you can stun and unload all your cd's into someone and they might die.
It's not high IQ it's just wasting time until you're allowed to actually kill someone in arena.
>>
>>729141848
battlerite arena was a thing before shitlock studios murdered it since it couldn't attract the fortnite audience
>>
>>729143529
I literally never had that happen because I played offensive comps

It was succeeded by Battlerite Arena but SLS also killed it. Their most recent scam is V Rising so maybe check that one out? It's not arena but at least it isn't dead.

>Per-match leveling and character building, PVE elements.
Nobody likes to auto-lose or auto-win because they grinded more than their opponent outside of a match, and a lot of MMOs with arenas always have some high time investment requirement you need to commit to before you even begin learning how the PVP works to begin with. Gee, go figure why people just play MOBAs instead. I completely agree btw, I really do prefer the gameplay style of MMO pvp over clicky clicky MOBAs, it's just held back by a lot of unnecessary crap.
>>
>>729141848
like others have said bloodline champions was fairly big for a time when wrath of the lich king was the current expansion unfortunately you are a decade and a half too late lol
>>
>>729144756
I will never forgive them for the soulless husk that Battlerite was compared to Bloodline Champions.
BLC had a really cool artstyle and it makes me sad everytime I remember what could have been.
>>
>>729145029
There was an expansion where they just scaled everyone for PvP and it was great. No gear needed, just hop in and play. But all the nolifers bitched that they couldn't just grind and out gear people, so they removed the scaling.
>>
>>729141848
>blood line champions
>awesomenauts
>gigantic
>battlerite
I don't know why but shit just doesn't work even though it's fun as fuck
There's also a game called SUPERVIVE that's that but battle royale but it's slow as shit compared to WoW and all the other games I listed
>>
>>729141848

if they make it a queue based game with no open world or anything, you just hop in a character selection screen like it's super smash and pick your class and spec, and select your trinkets, then I think it has a potential.

ofc it has to be also simple and not overly complicated like arena currently in retail, each class has 10 buttons at most and that's it.

Also dead soon. I find it extremely weird that these MOBA-lites that delete the "laning phase" and focuses on the action all keep dying. Is that really what players want? Mindlessly clicking creeps for 30-60 minutes before the match is settled in a single teamfight?
>>
>>729141848
Nobody who does WoW arena is looking to play something else, and the arena format doesn't really appeal to a larger audience I think. Most of the people who currently do arena at like gladiator level are either A. an autist where doing this is their main fixation and it's all they do, or B. A guy who just wants clout. Neither of these people are likely to move games as the first refuses to play anything else, and the second needs to have people who don't do arena around so they can feel special.
>>
>>729146426
for me deleting creepwaves and pushing towers was the only fun part about LoL, teamfights are just a clusterfuck
>>
>>729145747
It's funny cuz those same nolifers will tell people who are interested into getting into pvp "heh yeah you just have to do this and that and maybe grind these and it's super easy dude, it's like nothing and then you can just join pvp and play with us!"

then as soon as the devs add the "you can just join pvp and play with us" feature for real they piss and moan and cry and shit their pants and leave in droves cause they never wanted to just pvp
>>
>>729141848
>Why there are no pvp games based on 3v3 arenas from earlier WoW expansions like TBC?
because it is utter dogshit.
>I feel like it's insane that no company tried to capitalize on this market for years.
because nobody will play it. it's a retarded idea resulting in a game that is dead before it arrives.
>and in before faggots come and say league of legends. that's a different game genre and is no where close to wow arenas
yes, league is garbage. wow arenas are also garbage. hope that clears things up for you, cultist.
>I'll call it from now, the next big pvp genre will be something based on this.
it won't, because literally nobody except from brainlets such as yourself gives a shit.

if dota/LoL are dogshit but have massive playerbases why would another dogshit derivative not be capable of getting a massive playerbase?
>>
>>729146426
>>729146956
I think it's the same issue that fighting games have but worse, way too many characters and incredibly tight fast moving gameplay but instead of a 1v1 it's a 3v3 or 6v6 with all kinds of items and equipment loadouts you can select pre-game so there's even more things to keep track of
Unlike MOBA's you can't just farm up get your levels and items and roflstomp a game once and awhile or just fuck off from fighting entirely and focus on objectives, you need to fight and the fighting isn't slow paced it's way to fast and tight for the average person to enjoy and when they get stomped by sweats they sit there scratching their heads wondering wtf happened, there's also other factors in games like League that give you a boost of power that make the game easier like dragon soul or red buff making the game more casual friendly since if you're outskilled you can still win fights by just beating them with your buffs, you don't have that in something like Battlerite
>>
>>729146863
there is definitely some sort of trauma, projection or self reflection occurring in this unusually angry post lol
>>
>>729146956
>if dota/LoL are dogshit but have massive playerbases
the playerbases consist primarily of tryhards, who get tired of the game and play something else or grow up (like myself) or absolute fucking casuals, who don't even understand the wave mechanics (some girls I sometimes played the game with).
Another problem here is that League, not sure about Dota 2, just gets shittier and shittier over time. Open Beta League and first seasons were peak. It all went downhill very rapidly after having around 120 champions (which was already way too many in like season 8)
TL;DR: League loses players hand over fist, because the game is actual dogshit now. Not sure about Dota 2, which always more tryhard and more of a niche.
>why would another dogshit derivative not be capable of getting a massive playerbase?
because of the gaming market. There aren't way more gamers, gamers just get older and continue gaming. Average gamer is like 36 years old, or something, today. An average 36 years old doesn't give a single fuck about a game like League or Dota.
And if you look at the large financial part of the market, those are mobile players, who will never play the sweat wow-arena-like game with more than two buttons, because most of them are like normie bitches playing angry birds and candy crush and shit like that.
>>
>>729147283
grim times for arena games
>>
>>729147441
you can still create and indie one and release it. But I doubt very much, that it will become super popular as to be bought and played by millions and gorillions.
>>
I remember there was a literal copy of arena game in alpha or beta, you just queued with the class + gears, my wow obsessed friend insisted on it and we tried it. It might be ring of titans? I cant tell from the steam library
>>
>>729147283
>because of the gaming market. There aren't way more gamers, gamers just get older and continue gaming.
This isn't true at all, there's fuckloads of zoomzooms and alpha kids playing games, but all they play is f2p shit like fortnite and roblox very rarely do they buy a game and when they do it's something uber popular like fucking minecraft
>>
>>729147916
>check reviews
>it's wow players doing what they do best
>pretending they want games that aren't wow knowing they will always return to wow

>>729141949

>>
>>729148052
>This isn't true at all
Are you retarded?
>there's fuckloads of zoomzooms and alpha kids playing games
Yes. Not hardcore pvp pc games with pcs that cost 3k USD+. Those are a tiny minority and they always were. Just like we were one of the few people with the internet in the 1998, or with a proper PC in 1993.
>but all they play is f2p shit like fortnite and roblox
because they play console and phone games, which I have stated in my post. whether it is roblox or candy crush doesn't really matter. normies will be normies.
>very rarely do they buy a game
they have no money
>when they do it's something uber popular like fucking minecraft
Minecraft was a great video game. It's still is, the older versions. Game itself is a phenomenom. It's produces clones. It makes a shitload of money. It's the Doom of the 2011. Whether you like it or not, unlike even WoW itself, Minecraft is that one generational game that could have and did and will continue to transform gaming.

Arena of Kings? I thought it had potential but they stopped development for some reason, maybe Blizz Jew lawyers stopped it
>>
>>729141848
For me, too many buttons. I liked having more buttons in PvE but i just wanna zugzug in PvP. Maybe i'm a weirdo.
