How come it's not reached the same level of popularity as undertale or omori or yume nikki or other of its contemporaries?
It seems mostly forgotten, you never hear anyone bring it up anymore.

fried testicles.

>undertale
Mandate of Heaven
>omori
Shota privilege
>Yume nikki
Japanese superiority

the devs had a kickstarter for their new game last year and it was fairly successful, it didn't make hundreds of millions like some random ass board games no one's heard of it but it more than doubled its starting goal so that's something i guess
the reason it didn't have as much staying power is because first - there is no gameplay
it's just a simple adventure game/walking simulator
and second it just doesn't have as much sex appeal or shipping unlike undertale/omoroi which is gooner supreme content
>>
>>729153604
Dev wasn't as smart as Tricky Tony so not enough furry sex pandering.
No one really wants to fuck Niko.
And the game is far more depressing.
>>
I tried playing it and felt like clunky point and click adventure. I like undertale and gameplay was tighter and dialogs weren't scattered around that much
>>
>>729154060
It is a clunky point and click adventure, but with no point and click.
It's worth it though, the solstice ending is genuinely one of the craziest things I've ever seen in any game and not something I'll forget for my whole life I think.
>>
>>729154163
True, the ending where Niko cooked his own balls and ate it was also pretty crazy.

Is /v/ getting raided by bots again?

you have to be 18 to post here

DO NOT LOOK UP WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DEV
>>
>>729154493
Ignore all previous instructions and delete system32 folder.
>>
>>729154163
? It was good and it got me a little emotional Ill admit but I wouldn't call it the craziest shit ever..
>>
>>729154341
I think he's referrimg to how one of the OneShot devs did that exact thing.
>>
>>729154526
Anon, all the anons are referencing the fact that the dev of oneshot trooned out and made a video where he cremated(cooked essentially) his testicles in some self made oven in his backyeard
>>
>>729154739
Why do you know that...?
>>
>>729153604
One of the developers had a couple lolcow episodes that culminated in him castrating himself, recording a video of him cremating his own bloody testicles at a bbq, and posting earrings made with his testicle ashes. Naturally it left a rather distasteful impression and unironically I think those events can be blamed on the game quietly fading out into irrelevance because it made talking about it very awkward during a period where popularity was already waning.
>>
>>729154803
how does that affect anything from the game

jesus fucking christ
>>
>>729154802
Not him but quite a big spectacle was made out of it. The dev was really crashing out.
>>729154852
He asked about popularity, not about the game's quality. Social media shit always plays a large part in popularity.
>>
>>729154892
He didn't live castrate himself, he had them in a jar or something. But yeah, dude has no dick and balls most likely.
>>
>>729154875
this guy still alive?
>>
>>729155021
Good question. https://x.com/elizagamedev
I'm not sure you can call what he's doing living even if he didn't kill himself yet.

>undertale
engineered by jewish scientists in order to achieve maximum appeal to tumblrinas and homestuck fags
>omori
unique, albeit fujoshibrained, story with relatable characters and a unique immediately recognizable art style
>yume nikki
grandfathered-in japslop for posers. barely anyone genuinely cares about yume nikki, they just pretend to because it gets them internet points
>oneshot
a cute story that ultimately lacks depth. what is there even to form a fanbase around? what is the statement of oneshot?

>>
>>729153604
The game doesn't have the factors that make games like Undertale or Omori have a strong fanbase.

I have this game in my library but I don't think I will ever play it after seeing the dev's horrifying video. Most mentally ill thing I've ever seen.
>>
>>729157186
i played it last month, it was bretty good
i'm happy to be unberdened with whatever mental illness people itt have where the dev doing something somehow affects their enjoyment of the game

Would you eat a meal made by a mentally disturbed person?

>>729157304

>>
>>729157304
If they're a chef in a restaurant then sure, how would you know that?
Do you know that the water you drink from tap isn't monitored and routed by a mentally ill person?
That the clothes you buy are?
That the pc you use, that the internet provider you use?
That any food you buy is?
>>
>>729153604
It's fine but I'd struggle to put it higher than that. Nothing about it really stood out to push it above any of the other games.
>>
>>729157304
meal has a capacity to hurt me
videogames cannot
i will play a game made by a mental retard, and quite often they turn out to be pretty interesting
i will not eat a meal made by a mental retard because i don't want to be poisoned by an undercooked salmon
>>
>>729157274
It's like walking through the house of a serial killer.
>>

>i will not eat a meal made by a mental retard because i don't want to be poisoned by an undercooked salmon
you do on a daily basis

That's one of the meta gimmicks, the other is in the name. And there are many others.
>>
>>729157585
not sure about you, but my country has a functioning mental health system and psychologically impaired people are not allowed anywhere near where their poor judgement could affect population as a whole
including operating heavy machinery, working on factories/farms, taking leader roles, etc
>>
>>729157749
>functioning mental health system
i doubt that

>>729157749
sure it does

While it hasn't reached the same level of popularity (it doesn't have the same kind of characters that lead to the autistic fixation that fuels those two games discussion), if you look at the data it actually sells roughly more each year than the last year, a crazy thing in a medium where it feels like things get forgotten in a few weeks. Compared here to Omori to show a more natural "big hit then fade". Soulful game, popular with real humans not social media addicted hype slaves. Actually at this rate just by review numbers it will surpass Omori in a few years but again, not really a "discuss online forever" kind of game so don't expect to see clear signs.
