You've no idea how much I hate grand strategy games
Not because they're hard or some bullshit like that, but because their existence practically deleted kingdom building games that aren't strategy
Literally the only examples that I can think of are Metaphor and Suidoken. The rest are all some sort of resource management bullshit

The fun part about building a kingdom is recruiting different people, fighting against rivals for the throne and swaying public opinion. Not sitting on your ass creating x building that gives x% more in wheat production
We could have so many epic games in the vein of the three kingdoms, but instead it's all numbers go up

There's plenty of muh resistance games, but they're all gay democracy, and often the protagonist is just a pawn to the organization. Games where you'd be the next king after taking over are extremely rare
