>>729187512I think the best time to watch NGE is in your teens when the main characters are a bit more relatable, so that might be it.I personally like it, but it gets a ton of people going "OH MY GOD THE BEST PSYCHOLOGICAL ANIME EVER" and conversely "WHY IS SHINJI SUCH A WHINY FAGGOT GET IN THE ROBOT" and then some retards going "Unlike most mecha anime, this one's about the pilots" so I think that gives people strong expectations going in. Really it all comes down to 26 episodes and a movie of a depressed kid dealing with the porcupine dilemma, so try and view it through that lens.I think the Rebuild series might change some things but I haven't given that a watch yet.
