Thoughts?

Ive seen loads of people shitting on this thing whenever console wars are brought up nowadays as a useless brick but as someone who actually owns a good PC and doesnt play vapid cinematic experiences for brown kids, this seems like the only console worth owning because its basically a 4k 120fps backwards compatibility box for og xbox and 360 gems. Surprised me that theyre even giving stuff like Phantom Dust for free

Series X is a Game Pass machine for 95% of people but it also has its own specific advantages
>Can be used as an emulation station if you know what you're doing
>Has almost full backwards compatibility with the Xbox library
>Honestly a better "media center" than the PS5
If none of those sound appealing to you don't get one.

if it were fully backwards compatible (just put in any og xbox or 360 disc and it just works) it would be a really neat if niche console. the fact that it doesn’t have any true system sellers, it looks like all first party titles are headed to ps5 and switch 2 anyways, and you can buy pretty much all xbox games on pc anyways makes it so there's not much reason to buy one, especially now with the price increase. the only thing it has going for it atm is goypass and even then a majority of the stuff goes to the xbox app on pc. I bought one at launch and don't regret buying it, I would not recommend anyone get one now

I dont know, the backwards comp isnt for literally all games but I also cant think of many that youd actually want access to that arent there, basically the first thing I did when I got the machine was exactly that- putting in the 360 discs i already owned for a bunch of games that arent even available for purchase anywhere else (like the og version of dark souls 1 and NG2). No clue if the mgs hd collection/peace walker HD are for sale on modern machines but that as well, downloaded phantom dust/NGB, and just bought the og gears of war and xbox battlefront 2 for offline co op yesterday from the christmas sale. I will admit the average goy probably doesnt think that sounds like much but basically the only reason to conceivably own a console for me is to have access to things that I cant really do on PC, or at least do well, and xbox seems like the only console brand that actually cares about its legacy. From what ive understood basically the only titles that arent on backwards comp are the ones they couldnt manage the publishing/ownership rights nightmare for, or ones that didnt seem worth the effort for obvious reasons

It's the cool thing to do on the internet. It is unquestionably the best console on paper (its only downside compared to ps5 is that it misses games often).

Xbones have good original and 360 emulation, better than the PC emulators. Of course, that's assuming the game you want to play is on their compatibility list. Otherwise it's just a living room PC with custom locked down windows.
