The people "zoomerspeaking" on /v/ aren't millenials or baby boomers making fun of the gen after them, they're actually unironically underage children, gen Z and alpha
Yes, the people pretending to be something are actually that thing- but they're still pretending

I know our natural presumption when seeing dishonesty is to presume it's coming from someone who is lying about who they are
"If someone is pretending to be X, they must therefor not be X"
But that assumption can only be true if honesty exists. "If someone is pretending, then they are lying about what they REALLY are." But there is no realness, this belief forgets to take into account that the irony generation knows no genuineness, they communicate *entirely* in dishonesty, irony is actually their base way of acting
So when they do go out of their way to be ironic, they just double up on the irony

Modern irony is no longer about jokingly doing something you don't do, it's now about doing what you want to do but having to pass it off as ironic because doing it earnestly is not socially permissible
So kids take something they wanna do, do it, assume it must be implied that they're doing it ironically because of course it is, who would EVER do something in earnest? Unthinkable! And then coast on everyone else nodding in approval and performing the same ritual, thus signaling to one another like bugs that their behavior was successfully registered as 'ironic' and they can now continue to do the thing they wanted to do without social repercussion, because it has been henceforth deemed un serious.
These are the hoops kids now have to jump through just to literally speak, communicate, act and exist. Even when alone, their very thought process is unnatural, ritualistic, and relegated to the collective. They have no internal reality, they don't exist when unobserved. This is the final stage of NPCs.
