I buyededed it because of kirby and loved kirby, but none of the other games are that great.I think the fundamental problem is just that I have 2000 games on PC, so every game on switch needs to be better than every other game on PC for me to even pick it up, and nintendo isn't consistently batting home runs anymore, so the switch gets played 3 times a year. The "death" of physical is really limiting it too. Even Inazuma, a game I would have bought on switch if it was physical, came out digitally on PC without denuvo or any garbage like that so I grabbed it there instead.

If Bananza was *that* good, it would have pushed units. You can't just say "we need a Mario or Zelda" when the appeal of those IP varies, as well. A huge portion of Nintendo "fans" rushed out to buy the Switch 2 at launch with the promise of no new games. They bought it purely based on the fact it was a new Nintendo console. Switch 1 sold because of Breath of the Wild. It showed the POWER of the Legend of Zelda franchise and that is what propelled Switch into the spotlight. People forgot about the Wii U, or rather, didn't know it existed, and thought Switch was the first new Nintendo console since Wii. It sold really well and it continued to have a great lineup of games its first year. Zelda, Mario, Xenoblade, Arms, Splatoon, Mario Kart Deluxe, and much more. It was also really affordable. $60 dollar games on cartridge and the system itself was $299.99. Fast forward to now and the Switch fanbase has reached some kind of fever pitch where a portion of owners where dying at every moment to buy the "Switch Pro" whether it had any games or not. Well, they bought it. They bought it and are justifying it by Mario Kart World, because what else was there to play? And they kind of sort of justified it with an OKAY Donkey Kong game that came out in July. That's it.Everything else is a Switch 1 game or a port for extra money. The fanbase that consumed these systems at $449.99 for what? It isn't a big upgrade, so far, over Switch 1 and the games are more expensive for no tangible reason. This isn't specific to Nintendo. The PS5 and Xbox Series are also on a sales downturn. No one gives a shit about new games on the whole because they're almost all garbage. Nintendo did well last generation because they were still making a reasonable volume of competent games and made a bunch of other games more portable in the process.But no one wants a PS5, Xbox Series or Switch 2, because we're six years into the console cycle and everything still gets released on PS4 and Switch 1. There's still no reason to upgrade. New games don't look that much better, there are no technological limitations on gameplay anymore, and worst of all, the prices of the hardware have fucking GONE UP from what they were at launch, even though we're only about a year away from the next generation being announced. Which is another reason the sales are tanking. Everyone knows the PS6 (There won't be another Xbox, in all likelihood.) is coming out in 2027 or 2028, and they're perfectly happy skipping this generation because they haven't missed out on anything they actually wanted. They might even say the PS6 won't be worth it and that'll crater too. And if it doesn't, the few people who give a shit about PS5 games will just buy the PS5 games and play them on the PS6. The whole value proposition of consoles died when they started using PC-equivalent hardware. And the final nail went in the coffin when they started cutting back on exclusives.

The market hasn't moved on past the PS4, so there's not much reason to stop making games for it. The PS4 is more than capable enough to play the games people are actually buying with no compromise on anything but graphical fidelity. And clearly, not many people care about the graphical fidelity if the price isn't right.And as for the Xbox. The Xbox One didn't sell. People moved to the PlayStation ecosystem as a result of their strategic blunders. The Series consoles didn't recover, and in the end, there's more or less zero reason to own an Xbox over anything else, which is why it's getting beat by a Chinesium shitbox with a gimmick. Oh, and the PS2 outsold the GameCube because it had a huge head start on adoption in addition to releasing earlier, from PS1 backwards compatibility and its position as a reasonably priced DVD player in addition to being a game console. And as a result, it had a much stronger line up of third party games. There just wasn't much of a reason to own a GameCube unless you wanted the handful of first-party Nintendo games that were exclusive to it.
