When did you realize Super Mario RPG was the most soulful game on the SNES?

I played it for the first time this year (2025) as a 30 year old man, so yeah I'm pretty cynical

It's straight up not a good game, the only thing it has going for it is the 90s SNES isometric 3D Mario aesthetic.

The RPG mechanics are basic. The game is easy until the last portion which requires a bad form of grinding. The characters are bad and even the official Mario characters are total fan-fiction, like Bowser is your friend now? The isometric platforming is awful.

We must have not played the same game, you're not going to beat the rangers regardless of strategy, it's mathematically not going to happen without extra levels.

better gameplay than e33

You naturally gain the required levels to beat the rangers by just playing the game normally
Maybe you're a speedtranny who rushed through the game or maybe you're just that shit to be filtered by a baby game

The only hard boss in the game is the optional dojo thing which can one hit KO your party members
Even Culex ain't that hard

I played it for the first time this year as a 38 year old and I thought it was great.
>>729173681
definitely no grinding required for me whatsoever. I'm guessing you never got around to getting the timings down
>>
>>729173681
I could be remembering wrong but you get a shit ton of really nice accessories by the time you fight them. Hell I'm pretty sure you can just get the lazy shell armor at that point and give it to Peach for an even easier time.
>>

>the game is grindy

how in the fuck are you having any issue with anything?

>I'm guessing you never got around to getting the timings down
You know, I wonder if input lag has something to do with that
For me I played it on a very fast Sony Bravia LCD(less than a frame of lag) so I had no problems

But most likely that guy rushed through the game and was severely underleveled or something
>>
>>729175636
could be that but also the game kinda throws curveballs at you a bit with the timings and you do have to be precise sometimes so I can see someone thinking it's just janky or doesn't always work or something and just not bother
really missing out on the fun of the game tho and yeah I bet some fights might be kinda hard if you're tanking every hit and doing shit damage for your level
>>
when the game released and I had to read about it in magazines because it never released in Europe
