Right after the reactor mission there's this hilariously awful moment where you're walking and the game forces control of the camera away from you to show you a path to the side while Jesse tells you that you need to go that way. Wow, thanks, game. It's not like I wanted to explore and figure out where to go or anything. I'd be willing to try Rebirth if it removed this stuff since I honestly don't hate the direction they took this game mechanically, or even it's weird fake remake plot. It's just that awful western AAA design that is absolutely intolerable, and should be shamed out of the industry.

Rebirth does a bit better by having a longer buffer between the start of a phase change and interrupting your damage.But generally yeah, in most FFs stagger isn't done very well.

>>729189618That's not true, because stagger isn't even a necessary mechanic in Rebirth. It functionally only exists for Tifa, or for Barret if and only if you set him up with the magic bullet ability. Everyone else is built around strats that don't require stagger at all to deal damage.

I had more fun with remake on my second run on hard mode because I knew when the bosses phase shifted. Setting up something destructive and having it canceled was annoying as fuck
