I'm looking to get into a game where I can control fleets of ships (real / fantasy / scifi) and do fleet battles. Preferably slow-paced. I liked Battlestar Galactica Deadlock and Battlefleet Gothic Armada 1&2.I hated Nebulous: Fleet Command, the UI and control systems are garbage.Im open to trying the 4x games that do this but i have no idea which ones are worth. I tried Sins of a Solar Empire 2 and didnt like how cartoony the UI looked.A good UI is important to me.
>>729178031EVE online gives you the epic fleet battles but you don't command them, you partake in them Maybe stellaris?
>>729178213u can command fleets in eve online if you're the fleet commander though.
>>729178213I'm open to stellaris, I just got intimidated by all the DLC. I assume I can probably get away without buying most of the DLCs, but for what I want to do (fleet battles) are there any DLCs that are a must-have?
>>729178213spreadsheet online doesn't let you do anything.>>729178031If you hated nebolous you'll probably hate nexus: the jupiter incident but it's pretty good, for RTS games all there's left for you to play is homeworld 1&2 (3 doesn't exist), Sins of a solar emprie rebellion (has a lots of mods for pretty much every sci-fi universe) or it's sequel sins of a solar empire 2 and if it ever comes out falling frontier.
>>729178574you can "acquire" all the DLC quite easily
>>729178686you can do a lot of things on eve online though
>>729178806such as queuing skills for 9 months before you can fly any real ship and then still die to people multiboxing 20 years old accounts with everything maxed out because the "game" uses the most retarded system ever invented or you can specialize in some dumb shit like mining and become a cuckold for a mining corp in high sec in a few months, so you can freely afk while doing work for others.
>>729178752You don't control the fleets in battle in Stellaris, in fact what you see isn't what's really happening. It's just dice rolls.
>>729178031X series pretty good for this but you'll spend more time as a participant than leading it for a while
>>729178686>nexus: the jupiter incidentI'll check it out, thanks>falling frontierits been on my radar for years. hopefully it doesn't get delayed again.Appreciate it anon.
>>729178959So you tried to pvp solo and get nuked. I don't care.
>>729178031Try X4 Foundations it has great fleet combat
>>729179141Oh and recently I pirated a pretty fun game called "Era one" not sure if it qualifies exactly for what you are looking for, it's similar to homeworld in many aspects, except that instead of having a pre-built mothership you build your own as the game progresses and build fleets off that, it's quite complex and an interesting spin on the space rts genre.
>>729179275I tried this once because it was shilled to me as Mount and Blade in space but it's not so I never played it again and didn't get very far.
>>729179282whoa this is pretty cool. I didn't know about this one. Thanks for the rec anon.
>>729178031Starsector?
This is the closest you can get to modern day naval combat in the missile age, in space.https://store.steampowered.com/app/887570/NEBULOUS_Fleet_Command/
>>729178031Endless space 2 is 4x and has space navy battles. Its more preparation and then the fleets fight according to your tactical plan rather than you micro-ing ships.Empire at war is a classic and worth playing for something more old school.
>>729180534I can't get over the UI on Nebulous.>>729180570I'll check out Empire at War, thanks anon
>>729178031Rebel GalaxyAirship: Kingdoms Adrift (if you don't mind the art style)Bannerlord War SailsEmpire Total WarStarsector
>>729181258Carrier Command 2 and other games by Microprose might scratch the itch as well. Look them up on Steam.
>>729181258>Airship: Kingdoms Adrift>like Sid Mire's Pirates! with airshipsHow have I never heard of this before?
Check out Hegemonia maybe. The coolest space explosions ever
