Should video games respect your time more? How do you square how much time you invest in this hobby with how long it takes to complete some games?
>>729180012Approximately 233,330 hours of those will be spent sleeping and another 233,330 hours will be spent working.
>>729180012>how long it takes to complete some gamesIrrelevant. Did I enjoy the entire experience or were there periods of time I wish I had back?
>>729180070Wouldn't that mean games should respect your time more, not less?
>Implying we won't play vidya in afterlife
>>729180070>even toddlers have 8 hour workdays nowDamn that sucks.
>>729180240>implying this life isn't the vidya and you aren't an immortal ageless being in base reality
>>729180120During my formative years (11 to 19) I spent about 9,000 to 11,000 hours playing Space Station 13. I don't have an accurate account due to BYOND servers hosting people's hours privately/having to ask each server I frequented, as well as using different accounts. I go back and forth on wishing I had the time back. On one hand, yes, obviously I could've gone to more parties/social outings/didn't attend any high school dances. On the other hand I genuinely feel like thousands upon thousands of hours spent in high level roleplay servers really did define a lot about myself I wouldn't want to wish away. I was definitely addicted though. I'd spend up to 18 hours a day on my days off from work playing. One morning I decided to just upturn my entire breakfast into the interior of my PC so I could liberate myself from the game and haven't gone back since. What about you guys? What's your most played game, and do you regret the time invested?

>>729180313On one hand it's weird to think all these memories and personality just vanishes instantly one day, but on the other it's weird to imagine it being eternal.
>>729180012I'm just having fun, it doesn't matter if I finish a game or not.
>>729180313makes too much sense. if your age is measured in googloplexs instead of seconds, why not get a mind wipe so you can watch your favorite shows again for the "first" time.or if you're 5 billion ELO at chess, why not just mind wipe and have fun at 800 elo.Even if God doesn't know he is God, he is still God.
>>729180313I'm glad I spent this turn around the wheel with you guys, I love you all so much
>>729180012I'm +30yo but I haven't lived a single hour.
>>729183334How?
>>729180012I DO NOT CONSENT TO REINCARNATION I REPEATI DO NOT CONSENT TO REINCARNATION
>>729180012Every "game" i've played that prides themselves on "respecting my time" or is praised by players as such, is almost always some casualized piece of shit that removed everything interesting from itself with a sequel. See modern Monster Hunter for examples.
I really don't understand how people spend so much time on one game, or even how they know how much. And when they play a game for a long time its inevitably shit. "I spent 200 hours on this game is fucking trash". But im like "well I spent I don't know how long because I don't open my stopwatch app everytime I play a game and its good".
>>729185708What's an example of a game that is good that doesn't respect your time?I'll wait.
