Gregg Myles (Guy that worked at Rare in the N64 Days) has leaked documentation on how Stop N Swap was supposed to work.

You would explore Spiral mountain for hidden switches in Tooie, which would play a cutscene of the areas opening. You would then turn off the game and switch to Kazooie, get the items then switch back putting the items into Tooie. You would then hatch the eggs in Heggy's nest as in the final version.

Interestingly though, the Ice was not intended for Tooie, but instead DK64. You would activate an unknown event in Tooie, switch to DK64 and obtain the Ice Key out of the fridge in DK's house, then transfer it back to Tooie. You'd then take the Key to hailfire peaks, but would get a "Super Jiggy" and a special outtakes ending sequence.

It's unknown what the Ice Key in BK was intended for, if tit was even obtainable with these plans. Might have been an extra step in DK64's event.

The Ice Key event could be then unlocked again and used for the next N64 Game (Perfect Dark or more likely Conker?) to be used in that game.

There was also an unknown SNS unlock which would let you collect a gold statue in DK64, and transferring it back to Tooie would have all the DK64 characters playable in multiplayer. The statue was also intended to be used in future games.

Limitations are a real bitch

They could have implemented this whole thing using the memory pak instead of asking the player to swap cartridges, so no, Rare was being fucked retarded for the sake of it.

They were old school hackers at heart. They were trying to exploit undefined behavior on the N64 to illegally read from uncleared RAM. Doing it with controller pak would of course work but would be less technically interesting.

Rare did neat stuff with the N64

Not at all. It was always intended to work that way based on how the N64's memory worked, but revisions to the console's tech shortened the buffer considerably and made it impossible.

So the DK rap was foreshadowing the whole time? "Come on Cranky, take it to the fridge!"

Consoles used to keep ton of crap on ram if you hotswapped carts.

You can use it to unlock stage select + debug with by using Sonic 2 then swapping into sonic 3, works because they use same memory address. But then come the issues of shorting your cart/console.

gregg said that not everyone had a memory pak and wanted everyone to be able to do it

I would cum inside Kazooie's tooie.

Amazing

True, but I think Nintendo might appreciate them doing something that helped sell Memory Paks!
>>
>>729186684
Wouldn't doing something like that damage both the cart and console? Sounds like a cool thing to pull off but now i understand why nintendo cut the feature asap as they knew about it.

very few worthwhile games required it anyways and they were all third parties
