Main plot revloves around whether to cut power to these flying cites to rev up some fat anti-sat cannons to clear the turrets but consign the people living in them to the radiation polluted surface, or to keep the current order.The specific mission where you actually shoot them down instead gets you in the shit with practically everyone else, but the guy who gives you this mission is part of their own personal terroist group well equipped enough support the mechs anyway (helped by the fact that said mechs can pretty easily level any opposition that might prevent access to supplies needed).
