Not "great", very far from perfect, but good. And pretty unique too all things condidered, death stranding came out after this and the world was fuck ugly.
There's this extremely primal and hardwired part of your brain that makes you feel good when you climb over a hill and see a vast view, this game taps into that reliably, takes a while to get stale.
Played it ona wiiu emulator circa 2021, didn't touch the other game because it looked like more of the same without addressing the biggest problems (the way armour works, no need to touch most of the content past mid game, no enemy variety ect) and same exact map that got stale last time

The game is appalling in a way only nu media can be. It mixes really good content (sky, bosses) with recycled slop (land, temples) with pure garbage (underground, cutscenes). Older games would have cut out all the bad shit, but since executives demand more content all the shit was left in the final game. The contrast between the good and the bad is super jarring and leaves a really bad taste that never goes away.
