They were already creatively bankrupt a long time ago. It's amazing how the Layton franchise had one single good game (curious village) which convinced everyone to buy into stockholm syndrome, sticking with the franchise hoping another good game would come out, but it never did, the subsequent games are all sliding puzzle garbage
