Natascha is honestly not very good against scouts, and it’s definitely not a hard counter. In an open field it’s great area denial, but that just means the scout will choose flank routes in tight corridors instead (which is his bread and butter anyway), and then the slower spin up time means that if he catches you not wound up the scout is free to get two good meat shots in, and the 25% damage penalty guarantees he’s able to survive to give you two more.
Don’t get me wrong, it can still fuck up scouts who are caught out in the open, but the matchup is still no where near as imbalanced as say scout vs engineer where its absolutely no contest on who is going to be on top 9/10 times.

I would rather fight a heavy on natascha than stock 9 times out of 10. I am always taking a gamble on a stock heavy having slow reactions/aim to win. if he gets his crosshair on me for more than half a second even at medium distance scout evaporates. Natascha does such pitiful damage I can eat some bullets and still meatshot him to death. Slow ain't doing shit if your target can kill you before you kill them. If you're catching a scout out he just has poor gamesense/positioning which admittedly is a lot of pub scouts.

I find this happens a lot to me as well and I think I know why. What happens is a game is unbalanced, people start leaving, then matchmaking just throws new players onto the losing team. It does nothing to balance the current game beyond the losing team not being outnumbered.

There needs to be some kind of balance system where if the game detects one team doing way better and people on the other team are leaving, they transfer some players from one team to the other before just directing new players onto the losing team.

I remember maining pyro back in 2014 because his trailer is the coolest out of them all. Too bad valve gutted him out. Back during combo pyro and pre-nerf back burner days he was actually viable in 1v1. Now I main soldier and scout because they are the most fun out of them all.

The Scorch Shot definitely does need a nerf
Why it has knockback is beyond me
But outside of that, everything else the Pyro has is okay to bad
Relying on Phlog crits requires the Pyro to be effectively sitting on his hands for most of the match contributing very little in the hopes that a few seconds of flamethrower crits will make a difference
And it can on some maps, but generally not enough and not on that many

Castaway.tf has the best iteration of Pyro.
>Phlog, Dragon's Fury, Degreaser/Axtinguisher, and Backburner all equally viable
+50 max hp with backburner with no airblast is like if fat scout was actually good. Bhopping around with the shotty and powerjack with enough health to shrug off rockets feels so fucking good. Also turns out axtinguisher was seriously overrated and even doing full crits again it's still very hard to use against aware players on good maps. Detonator is a must if you want it to be your main kill weapon.

i still take the sandvich over the banana half the time, since it provides a better medkit for team mates, also provides better protection if you're caught with your pants down. i think making the banana slightly quicker to eat would be a reasonable balance.
