>>729197738There's no accurate way to convey the difference in images, but in reality it just looks better and more believable. Better differences between light and dark which is to be expected but it even makes the colors show up better and it just looks better. GETTING IT TO THAT POINT is the tricky part since Windows will absolutely fucking shit itself by default and very very few games will override it with their own settings

It's literally free graphics. In reality most games render in HDR and have to do the extra work to downsample it to SDR, so if anything you're gaining a performance boost using an HDR monitor.
Hdr allows for independently bright areas on the screen. A normal led without local dimming can lnly control the whole screen. A sun and a cloud and the blue sky and the water, land, foliage will be the same brightness in sdr. All different in jdr granted the dev or director isnt a retard. Lifgtning flashes in stalker in hdr are crazy.

It was driving me fucking insane because a few games would override the settings and look amazing, and then others would look like grayed out dogshit. Turns out the Windows default is awful so you want to grab the settings roughly approximate for the nits of brightness of your monitor. Or grab all of them and test them out, but doing that finally got the fucker working right for me
