The semi successful ones will have passed on their genes making the new generation. A lot of no hopers have kids but at least they're actually getting some pussy.

The very successful ones will have children and leave them generational wealth.

What we do in life has ripple effects through our descendants. Or if you're a biological dead end then yes your life really has had no effect on the future.

>gordon: 27 year old mit phd graduate
he is an ignorant motherfucker just like the rest of us were. PhD means nothing except autistically immersing yourself into some niche topic and making research on it. I'm not saying any retard could do it, but high academy is a personal choice and most people choose to quit at bachelors or even masters. Not autistic nor smart enough to delve deep.
Having a PhD however is not a reflection of som arcane knowledge, great intelligence, or winning at life bigly. It's mostly reflects patience and some determination, if you don't buy the degree from other people and don't let the LLM write most of the text for you. kek.
I'm not dunking on PhD's and being reductive to make them nothing, however. A Doctorate is reseach, sometimes very important in important fields. And these people certainly deserve respect for making the world better by advancing the science and engineering too.
>us: 30+ yr old incel losers
doesn't make sense. A PhD doesn't make you drown in pussy. In fact going for a PhD is rejecting all of the hookup culture and partying, because it is a lot of boring, tedious work.
>loser
also isn't defined by having a PhD. Because most people with PhD's aren't even rich or famous.
>it's sad
Sad is living your life according to the expectations of other people and NOT doing whatever you're truly passionate about. Sad is going for shallow bullshit and engaging in destructive behaviors such as whoring around.
Sad is thinking that you could have been an Einstein and went do in history of science, just if the teacher in college would have graded your bullshit paper a tiny bit better, a little higher.
At the end of the day, the oh so successful Gordon is but a low level pawn in the hands of people such a G-Man. In the end Gordon has to fight for survival against both aliens and his own fellow humans such as the opposing force. Barney does the same.
TL;DR: You think you're making a valid point, but you don't.

I had a really vivid dream last morning that on the tram ride through Black Mesa that there is a small keypad protected hatch with a code that can only be found by beating the game normally. If you do a special jump as the tram goes by the hatch you can latch on, type the code, and enter a highly secured area with minigun turrets, angry scientists, and some kind of demonic ritual. It then becomes apparent that the resonance cascade was a false flag meant to pin the blame on Freeman, and that many of the scientists were actual occult researchers summoning a demon race. I exit the hatch and find myself in downtown Tokyo, and due to my sequence break, there are now headcrabs popping out of vents attacking Japanese schoolgirls who I try to protect. I enter a convenience store which turns into a maze and eventually leads to the break room area with the microwave in the original Half-Life. A scientist is there and tells me that the way to fix things is to go down a garbage chute, but I know it will lead to the blast pit, and I don't even have my hazard suit yet. The scientist gets very nervous and twitchy so I pull out a gun and tell him to get on the ground. Otis appears and we raid a fridge together, and find a doughnut box. Inside is a powdered chocolate cream filled, my favorite, but when I start to eat it Otis begins touching my doughnut, which creeps me out, and I wake up.

>>729203401
It's worthwhile if your goal is to be a researcher. In fact, it's the only way you should be able to get a job in any position like that. If you just want to earn money, go find a job after college (really high school).

The truth is the modern American education system is fucking retarded because it treats the entire university system as a generic job training program rather than a program for select people with select degrees for those who aim to have specialized jobs such as those who aim to be engineers, doctors, lawyers and professors/researchers. It just keeps people in the system longer than they have to be and puts them into a shitton of debt. It doesn't help that there is the retarded social notion that you must go to college when most people wouldn't benefit from it.

Manufacturing jobs and low-profile white collar work like the type your average office worker does don't need degrees to perform. It's kinda embarrassing how topsy-turvy the educational system is here just so administrators and the government can squeeze money out of the middle class.

>if you go for industry, people with bachelors degrees will be ahead of you
They're almost always jumping from job to job and if they do manage to find a long term gig, they tend to not really get higher up because they don't have the prerequisites for a more position with prestige so to speak. I know because I've talked to people in my university's CS and Engineering department that had to deal with their career being halted because they only had a Bachelor's degree, so they had to go back for a Masters at minimum in order to get higher paying jobs. The era of easy tech money is over. You should be looking for something that will deliver good dividends over a long period of time rather than a stint at Google or Apple or some shit like that.

I’m ngl that’s what 90% of students do, that sort of basic info is taught as a necessity in undergrad at most schools, if not just common sense from before then. The fact of the matter is everything just sucks at the moment. You might get lucky and do great as soon as you finish, but while you’re still in the middle of getting your degree you can’t claim everything’s a cakewalk.
I know a guy who got an outstanding degree from the best school in my country and he recently decided to swap to the trades because it was a better prospect for him

You aren't wrong but I think you have to factor in that society is fucked (it always has been in general but especially now) and if you want to get anywhere in life, you'll have to deal with fucked up people that you can use ass ladder rungs to get where you want.

The key to success is to believe in yourself and to interact with society in such a way that it doesn't drag you down, but up and bring anyone you love and loves you up with you like family, very good friends and a woman sees you as her king and whom you see as your queen.

Sappy, but being proud of yourself, treating yourself well and dedicating yourself to growing as a person is something everyone ought to do.

Pretty sure I'm going through a midlife crisis with my lack of real human connection and spending 40h a week doing something I find meaningless for a company I hate as pivotal points.
I regret getting into programming. I should have been a forest guard or a fisherman.

>It's kinda embarrassing how topsy-turvy the educational system is here just so administrators and the government can squeeze money out of the middle class.

Our entire society is like that. The medical industry is the most egregious about it.

I don't care about getting laid anymore I just want to be around people that accept me for who I am.
At least I enjoy what I do for work and find some meaning in it. Would be nice to have coworkers you have more things in common with than work.

Feels like a waste to me. It wasn't even fun or useful.

My parents had me and my older brother when they were 25. They owned a nice house and car at that time and only my father was working as a taxi driver. Don't let zoomzooms gaslight you into thinking things weren't better in the past.
