Bowser's Fury plus Monolith Soft working on the next 3D Mario makes me think the game will be open-world. But how will an open-world Mario work, exactly?

Just like Odyssey but all the kingdoms are on the same map.

Ideally
>SM64's Hazy Maze Cave leading to the outside of Peach's Castle but on a grander scale
>Unlockable traversal options like wingcap/cape, rideable animals, and warp pipes
>Multiple playable characters that each have their own play style and don't make each other obsolete
>Actual combat with little to no 1HKO enemies so that each character gets to have fun and satisfying movesets/combos (Mario being an all-rounder, Yoshi having tongue grappling moves, Wario being a little slow but just as destructive as DK, etc.)
>Atmosphere that tries to recapture SM64 with plenty of eerie, dream-like locations that captures the imagination of the players

See that toilet over there?
You can flush it.
