Is Outer Wilds a good game or is it reddit tier?

Will I enjoy playing it? The steam reviews are mostly positive.

the writing's kinda gay but the puzzle gameplay is genuinely very good and satisfying
>>
>>729202024
I don't know, I haven't played it.
>>
>>729202024
It's either the greatest video game ever made or a boring reddit chungus walking sim
It depends on what kind of mindset you have going into it
>>
>>729202024
The entire solar system is a giant puzzle that you have to piece together at your own pace through exploration and stitching together various bits and pieces of lore hidden throughout the game. Progression is non-linear and entirely knowledge-based. I've never played anything else quite like it. Avoid spoilers.

Decent but overrated. Extremely dissapointing npc interactions wise. You'll be stuck on couple of planets for way longer than you'd like purely because of annoying mechanics and other places are there only to run through being more of a atmospheric corridors.
Very cool ideas with quantum mechanics, flying requires some getting used to but ends up being fun. Galaxy ends up feeling kinda claustrophobic because of certain planets not having much to do on them.

Game's a masterpiece. If you don't look up a guide, you are rewarded with an adventure that's grand but also deeply knitted with friends.

Outer Wilds broke me...
and made me trans...
>>

In my opinion it’s the most original and fascinating game to come out in the last ten years.

The beginning hour sucks and does not give you a good intro to the game. After that though it is a sci masterpiece. If you give a shit whether a game is too “Reddit” you’re probably too autistic to enjoy anything in life though.

i cried during the ending
not really though but i easily could've if i weren't such a fucking chud

Who made that video again?

Outer Wilds is what Blue Prince claims to be, seriously, I'm yet to encounter another puzzle game where the mystery and narrative intertwine so perfectly and you can start wherever you want.

Give it a try.
>>

I'm somewhere in the middle.
The game is cool yeah, figuring out how to get across the anglers and things like that. But its not "WOW BEST GOTY MUST PLAE"
I figured out how to get into the interloper and for what? A checkbox of lore?
I found the endgame ship thing beyond the anglers but couldnt do anything with it?
Still haven't gotten onto the sun station.

A game that actually lives up to the hype. A must play.
>>
It's a good game made with genuine intent to convey something. It's a worthwhile experience.
>>
>>729202024
Play for about an hour. Go blind
If the game doesnt clicks with you in that timeframe, refund it
>>
>>729206212
>A checkbox for lore
You mean a major revelation to one of the biggest mysteries of the game.

Yeah it’s a story based game. There’s literally only 4 things you have to do to beat the game, the rest is figuring out what all of it means.

>In my opinion it’s the most original and fascinating game to come out in the last ten years.
I think the redditards acting like it absolutely changed their lives are just neurotic, but I do agree with this. It is a genuinely fun and original game.
>>
>>729206212
That IS the game
You discover stuff, get lore and knowledge to discover even more stuff until you can piece toguether enough things to reach the end of the game and roll the credits.

Some find this to be an enjoyable experience. For others, it is the gayest thing ever and should be quarantined in reddit.
A handful will tell you this is the best game ever. If you ask me, there are few games built like this, which is why it can make an impact on some people, but by no means it is a "WOW BEST GOTY MUST PLAE". I think it's neat.

It's very good even if some people overhype it. A lot of people will go into it thinking it's some kind of 12/10 life changing experience. Then when it's not, they end up disappointed and enjoy it less than they would have if they didn't have such high expectations going in. I guess some people might consider the writing reddit since you're reading about a bunch of autistic alien science geeks, but it never bothered me.
>>
>>729206212
You’re obviously missing some major pieces of the puzzle. I would recommend beating the game before coming to the conclusion that it’s mid.

Is the switch version worth it?
>>
>>729208523
Pros: You can play it in bed
Cons: Looks like shit and is locked to 30 fps, certain areas cause the game to choke
>>
>>729202024
It's probably the best walking sim out there.
Not a high bar, but it's pretty decent.
>>
>>729204795
Tell me 3 original and fascinating things in the game
>>
>>729202024
It's ok
>>
>>729208795
Progression comes from learning about game mechanics, meaning you discover new areas by learning certain aspects of the game that the developers keep initially hidden.

The story is fully fleshed out but it’s told to you completely out of order and in tiny bits and pieces and it’s up to you to put all of those pieces together.

The game’s loop mechanic allows for wild physic mechanics that I’ve never seen in other games, such as an entire planet collapsing into a black hole and you having to frantically traverse it before it all gets destroyed.
>>
>>729208795
Everything is opened ended and you can tackle the game in any order you want. Things on some of the planets move around due to physics and things can be different depending on when you visit something
For me though it's all the weird stuff it does with gravity. Like the hollow planet where half the stuff is upside down
>>
>>729202024
It's great. Good puzzling gameplay, fun ship flight, and some pretty impactful visuals here and there. I'd highly recommend it to just about anyone.

Not a reddit slop, no. It's a good game with unique ideas

reddit
>>
>Figure out what the game needs you to do to beat it, and understand the ramifications if you’re wrong
>Pick up the thing
>Music immediately changes to that frantic upbeat remix
Honestly one of the most kino endings of a video game. I don’t think it will ever be topped.
