1/3rd: Uncensored artistic vision (almost impossible in 2025 thanks to SJWs)1/3rd: Limitations in game development (especially hardware limitations) (again almost impossible in 2025 thanks to powerful hardware) (self imposed limitations count but AAA never does this.)1/3rd: Inconvenient gameplay (it's the struggles in life which mean you are truly alive. And without inconvenience then you are just playing a movie) (again, almost impossible in 2025 thanks to the QOL cult.)

why would you sell an organ to buy a card that still has to upscale? >poweful hardwareis a joke
>>7292048072. is close but wrongit needs to be a limitation the dev fought against.something they didn't want to accept and tried to find a way around.3 should emerge in PART as a result of 2 properly being fulfilled, but ALSO in part because of 1 being fulfilled.

>>729204807>Inconvenient gameplaythis is what propelled dark souls so hard, and to a lesser extent, demon's souls. fromsoft found that perfect balance between reaming the player's asshole, the adrenaline rush in a boss fight, the music, and then the release, literally, after a boss dies. the boss dying, getting the huge "BOSS RAPED" across your screen, followed up by the calm of being in an empty room alone was such a revolutionary change from what games were at the time.
>>729204807 You’re actually onto something here, even if you're dressing it up in pseudo-spiritual gamer philosopher talk. Uncensored artistic vision has been steamrolled by corporate-safe writing committees and ESG checklists, hardware advancements led devs to spoonfeed spectacle over substance, and inconvenience is now treated like a design flaw rather than a design choice. That last one hurts the most - devs used to challenge players, now they babysit them. Modern games are afraid of letting players fail, afraid of friction, and as a result, they forget how satisfying overcoming shit used to be.
