Has a video game ever scared you? As a kid? Or even recently?

Games don't scare me.
>yeah, okay tuff guy
No, seriously. It's even gotten me in trouble before.
>Female: "Hey anon, is this game scary?"
>Me: "Pffft, what, Silent Hill 3? Naaaah, that game's fine. I quite liked it in fact."
2 weeks later
>Her: "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU DON'T EVER TALK TO ME AGAIN!!!"
>Me : "...whoops."

my kid self was such a bitch toward anything horror, every time I remember I cringe at it. fucking inuyasha spooked me. blade the vampire hunter, courage the dog, etc
but in a twist of fate, I've grown to love horror media. been playing amnesia the bunker and I'm sure a couple of the scares it gave me will stay with me for a while

only jump scares get me, i can't immerse enough to get scared by anything that's not real

Jumpscares are not scary, they're startling. There's a huge difference.

>start playing Project Zomboid with friends
>we all make a pact to go in as blind as possible
>play on a server almost every night for a few weeks
>rules are set to resemble classic zombie logic - Romero rules
>one day when only the server owner and I are online we go to Louisville for the first time
>it's foggy
>we don't go into the gates, just stay outside and plan the first run
>out of the corner of the screen we see a human silhouette, crouched behind the gate
>it crouch walks off and disappears
>"please tell me you saw that too"
>zombies aren't supposed to do that
>we both lose our shit and drive back to base
>later
>whole group is on
>we've pushed past the hospital and into Louisville proper
>it's night time
>raiding a gun store next to a liquor store
>a lone zombie crouch walks down an alley, bites one of us, and crouch walks away
>We all freak out and end the run early to drive back
I still never got a proper explanation for it. We were playing with some mods on, but unless one of them added in a croucher variant, I'm stumped for explanations. Also got jumpscared when we sat down and watched the entire Dog Goblin series.
